Among them, the automobile industry is the largest investment field of Japanese capital in Wuhan.

In 2003, Dongfeng Motor and Nissan jointly established Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd., which is the largest joint venture project in China automobile industry, including all-round cooperation between commercial vehicles and passenger cars. In the joint venture company, Dongfeng and Nissan each hold 50% shares. When Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. was founded, its registered place was Zhuankou Development Zone in Wuhan.

Not only Nissan, but also Dongfeng and Honda jointly established Dongfeng Honda Company in Wuhan. Dongfeng Honda was established in the second half of 2003, and the company is also located in Dunkou Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone.

After the establishment of Dongfeng Honda, it developed rapidly. By 2007, its output value and tax payment had surpassed that of Shenlong.

The rapid development of Wuhan auto industry has also attracted many Japanese auto parts manufacturers, and a number of well-known Japanese auto parts companies such as Riken and Showa are accelerating their presence in Wuhan Development Zone.

At present, there are more than 30 Japanese-funded enterprises in Dunkou Development Zone, and the total direct investment of Japanese-funded enterprises in the development zone has reached 1 billion US dollars, which is the second largest foreign investment in the development zone after French investment.

In addition to the Japanese-funded automobile and parts industry cluster in Dunkou Development Zone, Wuhan Donghu Development Zone has gathered more than 40 Japanese-funded enterprises engaged in communication, optoelectronics, automobile electronics and other industries.

In the financial field, Mizuho Industrial Bank, the second largest bank in Japan, will open a branch in Wuhan this year. Japan's largest bank, Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ Bank, also intends to set up a branch in Wuhan to engage in financial services such as infrastructure financing and project financing.
