The history of the school can be traced back to Sanjiang Normal School founded by Liu Kunyi and Zhang Zhidong in 1902.

From 65438 to 0960, Nanjing Institute of Technology (now Southeast University) was established as Zhenjiang Agricultural Machinery College, the predecessor of Jiangsu University of Technology.
