What's the difference between preserved fruit and candied fruit?

Different ingredients, different tastes and different shelf life.

1. Preserved fruits are usually peeled, diced or sliced fresh fruits, added with appropriate amount of sugar, water and some seasonings, and then cooked and dried to become a dried fruit food. Candied fruit is a kind of honey candy food which is made by adding fresh fruit or dried fruit to sugar or honey and boiling and stewing.

2. The taste of candied fruit is often dry, the texture is hard and chewy, and it will be sweeter because of adding sugar. Preserved fruit is softer, fresher and not too dry. Compared with preserved fruit, preserved fruit is easier to eat.

3. Preserved fruit has a long shelf life, because no other preservatives are added except sugar in the production process, and sugar has a certain antiseptic effect. Preservatives such as syrup are added to candied fruit, so its shelf life is shorter than that of preserved fruit.
