In recent years, the service field of youth volunteer action has been continuously expanded, and a number of key service projects have been formed in rural poverty alleviation and development, urban community construction, environmental protection, large-scale activities, emergency rescue and disaster relief, social welfare and other fields.

1. Long-term pairing service plan for young volunteers. The program mainly serves the elderly, the disabled, retirees and laid-off workers, poor students and state special care recipients. Through the matchmaking between youth organizations and youth volunteer organizations, it is a regular and basic work for young volunteers to establish a long-term and stable relationship between young volunteers and their clients and provide services and help to those in need.

2. Youth Volunteer Relay Program for Poverty Alleviation. This scheme has been implemented since 1996. Take the relay mechanism of open recruitment, regular rotation and long-term adherence, and organize and mobilize young volunteers to provide education, agricultural science and technology extension, medical and health services for poor areas. In the past four years, * * * mobilized 68 10 young volunteers to participate in the service, and more than 23 10 young volunteers provided services in more than 60 poverty-stricken counties. 4. Protect the Mother River "China Youth Volunteer Green Action Camp Plan". With the theme of "work, communication and study", this work focuses on organizing young people to carry out environmental volunteer service activities such as afforestation, desert control, water pollution control and chimney garbage removal in key areas by setting up green action camps and building green action bases. In June, 1999, the first phase of the project was officially launched in Fengningying, Hebei Province. In less than half a year, it attracted more than 1000 volunteers from 19 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across the country and from 12 countries and regions such as Britain, France, Germany, Japan and Turkey to prepare land for afforestation and dig earth and stone in the desertification area of Chenning. Projects such as Dalinor in Inner Mongolia, Wanjiazhai in the Yellow River, Deng Xiaoping's former residence in Guang 'an, Sichuan, nanxi river in Zhejiang, Hezhou and Yanji in Jilin are under construction.

5. Volunteer service in adult preparation period. This is a successful practice of combining the action of 18-year-old young volunteers with adult ceremony education activities. Seize the critical period when middle school students aged 65 and 438+06 grow into adult citizens, mobilize thousands of middle school students, educate young people in civic awareness and guide them to fulfill their civic obligations, and call on young people to carry out voluntary service for no less than 48 hours every year in the preparatory period of adulthood, which has achieved good results. Volunteer service in adult preparatory period has been widely carried out all over the country and has become an effective carrier of practical education for middle school students in the new period.

Millions of young volunteers have provided high-quality and efficient volunteer services for the Fourth World Conference on Women, the Third Far South Disabled Games, the Kunming World Horticultural Exposition and the annual meeting of Shanghai Fortune Forum. Organizing young people to provide voluntary services for large-scale activities has gradually become a common practice throughout the country. At the same time, in the face of several major floods and earthquakes, millions of young volunteers played the role of commandos for the people in the disaster areas to rebuild their homes and resume production. Especially in the face of 1998 catastrophic floods in the Yangtze River, Songhua River and Nenjiang River basins, the vast number of young volunteers braved hardships and made sacrifices, making positive contributions to the victory of the rescue struggle in Hanghong.
