Centennial History of Peiben Primary School
The school was founded in the 31st year of Guangxu reign (1905). Its predecessor was a private Peiben girls' school, which was built by the Xu Shi family in this city. It was originally located in the home of a local private doctor. The first headmaster was the founder Xu (1873- 1943). It is not only one of the earliest "new learning" in Kunshan in modern times, but also the first to open the reading atmosphere for women in Kunshan.
When the private Peiben school was founded, it enrolled a class with more than 20 students. At that time, women went to school less and less and later, and there was no age limit for students, some of whom were nearly 20 years old. There are two sisters among the students, Fu Changquan. After graduation, they set up a "private Aihua Girls' School" in their private houses, dedicated to the development of women's education. They later became famous activists who advocated women's liberation in Suzhou and Shanghai. It can be seen that the establishment of Peiben Girls' School has a great social impact on breaking the feudal ethics of male superiority and improving women's rights.
19 12 Private Peiben Girls' School was nationalized, renamed Kunshan Lipeiben Primary School, and moved to the famous Yushan Academy in Qing Dynasty. (that is, the present site, Yushan Academy is the place where famous scholars give lectures, and there is Lin Temple. The new six-year academic system (Guimao academic system) is implemented, with six classes and six-year monorail, with 65,438 students.
1920, a primary school (kindergarten) attached to the school, with 20 children in one class, is the first kindergarten school in Kunshan.
1937 When the Anti-Japanese War broke out, the main part of the school building was destroyed by the war, so it was forced to suspend classes for a period of time and resume classes the following year. 1945 After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the school was renamed as Kunshan No.2 Central School for Nationalities. The destroyed school buildings were gradually restored to three-story bungalows, 12 classrooms of different sizes. However, due to lack of funds and hasty construction, they were in rags when they were liberated.
1949 When Kunshan was liberated and the people's government took over the school, there were 12 classes with more than 380 students and 18 faculty members. 1956, the urban area was renamed as Yushan Town, and the school name was changed to No.2 Central Primary School in Yushan Town, Kunshan County, which is still in use today. During this period, he was in charge of Ji Jie Primary School, Xitang Primary School, Xihe Primary School and Beishanwan Kindergarten in Yushan Town. 1February, 1993, in view of the great influence of Peiben Primary School among the local people, Kunshan Education Bureau decided to restore the name of Peiben Primary School in Kunshan City and use it in the same place as Yushan Town No.2 Central Primary School.
From the end of 1950s to the end of 1970s, the Second Central Primary School in Yushan Town experienced various political movements, especially the ten-year "Cultural Revolution" turmoil. Because of its long history, there are relatively many old teachers, and they are falsely accused by the rebels of being the bastion of feudal remnants. The struggle to break the "four olds" and criticize feudalism and bourgeois authority is extremely fierce, which leads to the closure of schools, the decentralization of a large number of teachers and the serious destruction of school facilities.
After the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, under the leadership of the county party committee and the county bureau of culture and education, the school quickly recovered its vitality, recalled most teachers, re-studied the party's educational policy, rectified the teaching order, and persisted in educational reform and made continuous progress under the guidance of the general line of "one center and two basic points", and achieved good results. Since 1990s, the school has been successively rated as "National Advanced School of Traditional Sports", "National Advanced School of Mass Sports", "National Advanced Unit of Physical Education and Health", "Advanced School of Implementing Quality Education in Jiangsu Province", "Civilized Unit in Suzhou" and "Suzhou Advanced School of Moral Education".
The school has been running for nearly a hundred years, with thousands of graduates and students all over the world. 1995 is the ninetieth anniversary of the school. After the announcement of the celebration was published in the newspaper, alumni from all over the country, including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, as well as alumni from the United States, Australia and Japan, wrote in succession. Most of them have left their hometown for fifty or sixty years. Among them, many famous professors and scholars participated in the manufacture of atomic bombs, including famous doctors, physicists, mathematicians, philosophers and industrialists all over the country. The oldest one was eight years old. In their letters, they all talked about the enlightenment education of their alma mater in childhood, which is "the basic starting point of life" and thanked their alma mater for "the kindness of giving birth to me and raising my native land". Some of them also donated money, materials and works as gifts for their alma mater's 90th birthday. Thousands of alumni miss Peiben Primary School, which also inspires all employees who are working now. They are determined to carry forward the past and forge ahead into the future, rejuvenate the century-old prestigious schools and make the school a "five educations simultaneously".
