The Shenmao Railway starts from Shenzhen North Station, passes through Nansha, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Yangjiang in Guangzhou, and ends at Maoming East Station. It is connected to xiamen-shenzhen railway and guangzhou-maoming railway in the east, Maozhan High-speed Railway and Hemao Railway in the west and Luozhan Railway in the north, with a total length of 371.73 kilometers. According to the first-class national railway, the design speed is increased from 2 kilometers to 25 kilometers per hour, which is both passenger and freight.

Shenmao Railway is divided into main line and branch line, of which the branch line passes through Foshan, and the two lines operate in parallel. Jiangmen-Maoming section (paying equal attention to passengers and goods), the main line starts from Xinhui Station in Jiangmen City and ends at Maoming East Station, with a total length of 265.539 kilometers;

The designed driving speed is 25km/h for motor trains, 2km/h for ordinary buses and 12km/h for trucks; There are 8 new (extra-large, large and medium) bridges on the main line, with a length of 115.34 kilometers, and 17 new tunnels with a length of 9.798 kilometers.

The related works include the newly-built freight car connection line in Jiangmen South, the freight car connection line from Jiangmen South to Xinhui, the freight car relief line from Dianbai and the freight car relief line from Dianbai to Maoming East, with a length of 19.813 kilometers. 4.km reconstruction of Guang Mao Line. Shenzhen-Jiangmen section (mainly for passenger transport) is under construction, and it is expected that the distance between Shenzhen-Maoming Line and Dongguan in Guangzhou will be shortened after the Shenzhen-China Passage is confirmed. Shenzhen-Guangzhou section (Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed railway has been built), Guangzhou-Foshan section and Foshan-Jiangmen section (long-term planning); Jiangmen-Maoming section is used as the main line and branch line.
