Why is there an airport and a high-speed rail in Lianshui?

Lianshui, located in the hinterland of northern Jiangsu plain, is an important transportation hub in East China, with flat terrain and vertical and horizontal rivers and three expressways, namely Beijing-Shanghai Expressway, Ninglian Expressway and Tongshan Expressway. There are docks along the river for water transportation, so even Huaiyang Town Railway and Xusuhuai Yancheng International Railway have set up high-speed railway station in Lianshui. In aviation, Huai 'an Lianshui Airport, one of the seven trunk airports in Jiangsu, is located in Chen Shi Town.

Lianshui belongs to Huai 'an City, Jiangsu Province. It was called Anton and Huaipu in ancient times, or "Lian" for short. Because there is a river in the county, it is named Lianshui. Located in the north of Jiangsu Province, the east of Huanghuai Plain and the lower reaches of Huaihe River Basin; Xiangshui, Binhai and Funing counties in the east, Huai 'an District and Qingjiangpu District in the south, Huaiyin District and Shuyang County in the west and guannan county in the north. County area 1.678 square kilometers, registered population 1.654 million. It has jurisdiction over 4 streets, 1 town and 1 provincial economic development zone.

Lianshui has a long history and rich culture. It has a history of 21100 years since it was established in Huaipu County during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Western Han Dynasty in17 BC. Lianshui culture belongs to Jianghuai culture, and Lianshui people belong to Huaiyang nationality, using Jianghuai Mandarin. In 20 17, Lianshui county was awarded the title of "hometown of poetry in China" by the Chinese Poetry Society.
