In October 1996, Sany Concrete Pump participated in a worldwide concrete pump field competition at the construction site of the new terminal of Capital Airport and won second place, second only to the German Elephant Pump. However, Yi Xiaogang was not satisfied with the second place result. He simply regarded the construction site as his home and devoted himself to the project he was studying. In April 1999, during the on-site construction of Shenzhen SEG Plaza Building, Sany HBT80C concrete pump successfully pumped the highest construction height of 300.8m for domestic pumps, reaching the international advanced level and winning the "Pump Award" "King" reputation.

When switching between high and low pressure, the concrete drag pump needs to switch to different pipes. Yi Xiaogang boldly designed a valve that could rotate 90 degrees. Unexpectedly, it encountered unanimous opposition from workers to workshop directors: Pipes are used in foreign countries, and customers have not raised any objections. How can it be replaced?
