Morita Psychological Counseling: Life Wisdom in Coping with Psychological Crisis
I can feel her honest and serious side from her painful tone. Of course, I can also imagine that the eyes that have been looking at the ground behind her sunglasses must be kind. In that case, she can't go anywhere without sunglasses for fear of being seen.
Not only does no one understand her pain, but it is often misunderstood as "nothing." Or "Why do you care about that?" Or "if you were more open-minded, you wouldn't be like this" or something like that. But she can't do this, so she always feels that she has a problem and gets deeper and deeper. After realizing this unimaginable pain, she once had the idea of encouraging herself with good wishes and good results.
But this morbid mentality of always wanting to change your eyes has made the problem more and more serious. Moreover, when the sunglasses she wore to avoid attracting attention became conspicuous, she became more passive. Her reserve and efforts to change it made her reserve even heavier. In this case, her over-serious pursuit of perfection has been at work.
After explaining the psychological mechanism of these abnormal changes to her, I told her that she had obsessive-compulsive disorder and was suitable for Morita therapy, and suggested that she try it.
Considering that she hasn't been out of the house for six years, I doubt whether she can insist on going to the consultation center for outpatient treatment. Therefore, she was advised to receive Morita treatment in the hospital. However, considering that she couldn't afford the hospitalization fee and didn't want to tell her family the truth, she decided to use diary to guide Morita therapy outpatient treatment.
Diary guidance is a kind of Morita therapy. During hospitalization, inpatients keep diaries every day to correct and pay attention to their wrong attitude towards life through the guidance of doctors. Inpatients can record their daily life attitudes as a supplement to diary guidance. However, diary guidance is particularly important for outpatient treatment that can't see patients' attitude towards daily life.
While reading Miss Mary's diary, I wrote down the main points with a red pencil. For example, when you see in your diary that "I feel pain today because my eyes make people around me unhappy", you should note "Be prepared to avoid this pain in a short time" or add "Try not to escape even if it hurts again" and so on.
Even so, at first, Miss Mary was at a loss, so I pointed out to her that instead of writing about her pain repeatedly, she should try to write about the new things and discoveries she saw during the day.
Later, according to my instructions, Miss Mary wrote some new things every day, such as "Plum blossoms are in bloom", "The ears of wheat are really beautiful" and "A big bird was found in the yard". Although the original content is mainly a description of nature, the things described are more and more specific, from which we can see that her life is becoming more and more active. Next, I advised her not to just observe, but also to do something she doesn't usually do. Later, she wrote, "Do it happily? Simao Calais-(proofreader's note: it's a hometown dish in Tochigi Prefecture) "I'm so happy to clean the room" "When did the morning glory I planted bloom" and so on.
In this way, after more than three months, Miss Mary can look me in the eye and speak. Later, I took off my sunglasses. As I expected, although her face is still a little nervous, it belongs to the face of a normal woman. After that, everything went well. The more the diary is written, the more interesting it is, and the expression is looser than before, and then it becomes a beauty.
Although the process is a bit slow, this change is real. Since then, Miss Mary has obtained the qualification of a quasi-nurse through her help and study in a mental hospital. She also became a major member of the Life Discovery Society organized for the purpose of studying Morita therapy, and later became a volunteer service provider of telephone consultation on the "Life Hotline". Later, she went to a nursing school and became a full-time nurse. Can interview people who are distressed in the workplace well.
Recently, I also received a letter from Mary, in which she wrote that she was married and was busy being a housewife.
At the same time, I also received a letter from Miss Yamada, who was unable to take the tram because she felt uneasy and came to consult Miss Mary's future. The letter said that she was the mother of two sons and had a hard life. Also, Mr. Tang Ze, who talked to me several times, came to me because he was too rigid in every word of the book to study law. The content is that he married the lady he met in the life discovery group and lived happily after marriage.
About Morita therapy
Through the above example, I once again realized the fact that these talents were saved only because of Morita therapy; On the other hand, in order to know more about Morita therapy, I am still hesitant. People who want to spit out their depression need to know more about Morita therapy, so I thought of writing this book.
Unlike people who have to undergo long-term training and study to master psychotherapy represented by learning, Morita therapy is very easy to understand. The neurotic patients cured by Morita therapy set up the Life Discovery Society. They have achieved great success on the basis of learning and overcoming neurosis. But this does not mean that Morita therapy is effective for all neurosis, and some people are more suitable for psychotherapy. Especially those patients who are more difficult, even if they spend a lot of time doing it for him, it may not be effective. Of course, some people tend to think that no matter what treatment is used, as long as it can cure the disease.
If patients who can be cured by psychodrama or Morita therapy can also be treated, isn't there any other shortcut? Therefore, as long as it is suitable for Morita therapy, Morita therapy should be advocated as much as possible. For patients who are difficult to treat with Morita therapy alone, other methods can be used for treatment.
Morita therapy, founded by Morita Shoma, the first professor of psychiatry at Tokyo Cihui Medical University, is a kind of therapy for neurosis with Japanese characteristics. After I graduated from Cihui Medical University, I entered the psychiatric department. At that time, the professor was Gao Liang Takehisa, who had studied Morita therapy under Morita Masayoshi. As the second professor in the teaching and research section, he raised Morita therapy to the present level and established a specialized hospital focusing on Morita therapy? Gaoliang Sheng Xing Hospital (1996, with the death of Mr. Gaoliang, the hospital has been closed? Instructions to the school).
I have been studying Morita therapy in Gaoliang Sheng Xing Hospital since I entered the psychiatric department for one year. Although it's a hospital, I feel like I'm back in my old dormitory. In the yard, many teachers like lush trees. In this quiet environment, patients either collect fallen leaves or do carpentry. When I was studying in Sheng Xing Hospital of Gaoliang, like most other psychiatrists, I was interested in schizophrenics with serious diseases. Coincidentally, an initiative to treat mental patients was being carried out in an open hospital or community. Enthusiastic about the democratic operation of the hospital, I tried to establish an ideal hospital in Miura Peninsula, Kanagawa, in order to establish a "therapeutic body" that can improve the enthusiasm of patients through mutual stimulation. Compared with schizophrenics, I think neurotics want sympathy from others too much. Moreover, compared with telling people that they are the most unfortunate neurosis patients in the world, those schizophrenics who are abandoned by their families and not fully accepted by society, become numb during their long-term hospitalization and have to work every day, are really unfortunate. Therefore, I decided to fight for those unfortunate schizophrenics all my life. As soon as my one-year study period in Gaoliang Sheng Xing Hospital ended, I shifted my research focus to the field of mental illness. However, in a mental hospital, I hardly met any patients suitable for Morita therapy.
Treat the same body as * * *
According to the idea of treating androgyny, I organized various group activities in Chushengzhuang Hospital. There are also many group psychotherapy, involving all aspects. But my major is improvisational psychodrama. With the sunny hills of Miura Peninsula as the background, various psychological dramas were staged. Compared with psychodrama centered on spontaneity and creativity, I think it is a reality rather than a dream to seek the spontaneity of Morita therapy in life.
In the same body, after the morning meeting and many consultations, a coffee shop was opened, and then a group of patients who were difficult to leave the hospital and a group of patients who received outpatient treatment were separated from it, so that they could get exercise and grow through various collective activities. Therapists here should not formalize these group activities, but should create conditions for them to move better, which is the isomorphism of group therapy. There should be no shortage of such group activities in the life of inpatients receiving Morita therapy. However, it is important to give priority to each member, and therapists often have to strictly guide everyone.
When I first entered the teaching and research section, I thought about how to adapt to the problem of treating the same body because I had no teaching experience. There are also celebrations for hiking with patients or planning summer projects. During the election, the hospital organized a popular "five-party public discussion". Among these activities, only one is borrowed from Gaoliang Sheng Xing Hospital, and that is the group activity of discharged patients. In Sheng Xing Hospital of Sorghum, people who have been cured by Morita therapy hold meetings of "Beech Club" several times a year. The patients are all around Mr. Gao Liang, asking questions or telling each other. In the era of Morita Shoma, there was also an organization that consolidated the efficacy of Morita therapy in the name of "in vitro". There is also a group activity to provide reference for other hospitalized patients by telling their own experiences. I have also seen people who have suffered as much as themselves or more than themselves, and have been completely cured by Morita therapy. Therefore, for people in pain, when this fact is in front of them, their psychology is greatly encouraged.
This kind of gathering was later developed into a large organization by Mr. Hasegawa Yozo, and eventually formed a life discovery meeting, which will be discussed later. In my opinion, this method is also effective for mental patients. So, a party called "Daihui" was held in a place called Chusheng. "Daihui" meets every Sunday, sometimes going to Kamakura, the boatman's center, Narutoma, and sometimes holding bowling competitions. Even I, who has never been good at sports, occasionally play bowling. At the same time, psychiatric treatment has also moved from hospital to community, and has made great progress.
Taking the "Reshauer Incident" caused by the assassination of the Ambassador to the United States by a mentally ill youth as an opportunity, 1965 promulgated the revised Mental Health Law. Although the practice of casually restraining dangerous elements was strongly criticized later, on the other hand, preparations were made for starting to embark on the direction of community mental health represented by hospitals or mental health centers.
With the rapid development of society, Japan's economy has taken off, but it has also brought inevitable by-products in its development. Young doctors in the medical field are also sensitive to this and issue questioning voices. Everyone demands that mental health care should not only be carried out in mental hospitals, but also take various activities including community. I have also been to Misaki Health Center or Children's Counseling Center, and I have worked with patients and their families to reform mental health care.
That's when I first came into contact with the crisis theory. Under the guidance of Professor Xinfu Wu Shang, senior teachers translated the book Preventive Psychiatry by American scholar gabrin. What is mentioned in the crisis theory is that when you are in a crisis, you should concentrate on solving it, then the solution of the crisis will be effective and develop in a healthier direction. Although everyone doubts whether this kind of community treatment for crisis patients can work in Japan. However, I was young and impatient, and immediately handled the crisis in Misaki Health Center. Coincidentally, I met Mr. Kakuda, who just became a social worker, and together with him, I established a community treatment system, called on school teachers to cooperate in studying truancy, and founded the "Alcoholism Liaison Meeting". It was then that I met Mr Qi Teng, who is now an authority on alcoholism. At that time, Mr. Qi Teng happened to know the countermeasures of European scholars to treat alcoholism. Later, with Jiulibang Hospital as the center, he developed the countermeasures for treating alcoholism in Japan.
Tochigi county psyche health center
Due to the experience of community mental health activities in Miura Peninsula, I came to Tochigi Mental Health Center in August. 1975. At that time, I didn't know what mental health was, but I decided to raise the treatment method that Misaki Health Center had never implemented to the county level.
As for Tochigi Prefecture, I only know that it is the coldest in kanto region and is famous for its thunder and short sunshine. As for coming to Tochigi Prefecture, going to a mental health center or working in a government agency, this is my first experience.
As a county-level facility, it was decided to set up mental health centers in each county when the Mental Health Law was revised. Its purpose is to support mental health activities within the health center. However, the mental health center in this county has not received enough attention. There is only a provision of "hope to set up" in law, and even some counties have not set up mental health centers so far. Fortunately, in Kanagawa Prefecture, where I live, the mental health center has been greatly developed due to the efforts of Director Ishihara in various aspects, and I personally feel its existence more or less.
In Tochigi Prefecture, because the director of the mental health center is not a psychiatrist and needs experts in this field anyway, he has been engaged in community activities and working in the center. Although I don't know what mental health is, I decided to focus on it with the idea that I can develop a primary treatment network organization to alleviate the crisis and develop the new attempt I just made in Misaki Health Care. As soon as I arrived at the mental health center, I encountered the problem of mental health consultation. Although I don't know much about this kind of consultation, I always feel that it is not much different from the previous outpatient work. But from the beginning, I found that many patients were still different from those who came to mental hospitals or university psychiatric clinics before. Its characteristics, first of all, are that there are many children in adolescence, especially because they play truant to see a doctor. So, I set up a "truancy liaison meeting" to train school teachers. Secondly, family representatives often come to consult without coming, so they decided to launch "home classes" and "home groups" soon. Thirdly, there are many patients with neurosis, especially Morita's effective therapy, so-called Morita's neurosis. That is, patients who are too nervous to walk in front of others, patients who are afraid of people, patients with anxiety neurosis who can't ride because of anxiety, patients who are worried about whether they have cancer, or patients who repeatedly pay attention to whether to turn off the fire source, and so on. I'm going to start using Morita therapy again. 10 has hardly been used in the process of diagnosis and treatment in mental hospitals for years. When I am effective for outpatients. Not only that, but also quick results.
Among these people who are trying to get rid of their long-term illness, one is Miss Mary. Although Miss Mary lives a claustrophobic life at home to avoid others, some patients have been treated in other hospitals. What I feel from this is that many of these patients don't know Morita therapy. Because they don't know Morita therapy, many patients wander around with unnecessary pain.
From then on, I thought that it would be of great help to let more therapists or patients know about Morita therapy. Because Morita therapy is easy to learn and understand, it is not difficult to master.
