Anhui Medical University is a provincial key university, jointly established by the Ministry of Education, National Health Commission and Anhui Province, the first batch of high-level universities with local characteristics, and the first batch of comprehensive reform pilot schools in Anhui Province.

The school was formerly a private Southeast Medical University founded by 1926 in Shanghai. 1930 was renamed Southeast Medical College. /kloc-at the end of 0/949, in response to the call of the Central East China Bureau to "face the countryside and go inland", it moved to Huaiyuan, Anhui Province, becoming the first medical college in Anhui Province. 1952 moved to Hefei and changed its name to Anhui Medical College. 1985 changed its name to Anhui Medical University.
