Lijiatuo belongs to the northwest of Banan District.

Lijiatuo consists of Lijiatuo Street and Huaxi Street, formerly known as Jiulongpo District Government, and later included in Banan District. Lijiatuo is the epitome of Chongqing industry. Since 1930s, the enterprises outside the city gradually moved to Chongqing, and Lijiatuo gradually developed into the industrial center at that time. From the late 1960s to the mid-1970s, hydropower, wool spinning, ceramics and chemical industries mushroomed in Lijiatuo's economic market.

Before liberation, well-known enterprises such as wool textile dyeing factory, hydraulic turbine factory and Liumian factory in Lijiatuo developed rapidly. It was not until the 1990s that the industrial economy became the "food and clothing parents" of local people. At that time, the permanent population of Lijiatuo was about 37,000, and more than 95% of the people in the town were factory workers, family members and retirees. For example, there are four or five thousand employees in wool mills and water turbine factories.
