Inner Mongolia Electric Power (Group) Co., Ltd., namely Inner Mongolia Power Grid, is the only provincial independent power grid in China, which belongs to state-owned enterprises.

State Grid Corporation was established in June, 2002. It is a wholly state-owned company directly managed by the central government established in accordance with the provisions of the Company Law. It is a super-large state-owned key enterprise related to the lifeline of the national economy and national energy security.

The company takes power grid investment and operation as its core business and undertakes the basic mission of ensuring safe, economical, clean and sustainable power supply. On February 22, 2020, in order to alleviate the pressure of enterprises' operation and help enterprises to resume work and production, the National Development and Reform Commission announced the policy of reducing the electricity cost of enterprises in stages, which is expected to reduce the electricity cost of large-scale industries and general industrial and commercial enterprises by about 48.9 billion yuan.

In April, 2020, it was selected into the list of "Science and Technology Reform Demonstration Enterprises" of the State Council State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission. On June 5, 2020/kloc-0, State Grid Co., Ltd. held a press conference and cloud signing ceremony for key construction tasks of "digital new infrastructure".
