2020.7.23 Hancheng with stories, a flavorful journey

On July 22nd, I took a short two-day self-driving trip on the 23rd, with the destination being Hancheng, Shaanxi. We chose a more scenic route, along the Yellow Highway sightseeing line. Driving on the highway to the foot of Huashan Mountain is the beginning of the Yellow Highway. This road is very unique, running along the Yellow River wetland, passing through Weinan Dali, Heyang Qiachuan Virgin Spring, etc., all the way to Hancheng. This short trip refreshed my impression of Weinan and I felt the charm of the mother river of the Yellow River. The Yellow River wetland can really be called a land of plenty. The winter jujube base in Dali County is well-equipped with large-scale facilities, and the jujubes win the world. The lotus pond stretches as far as the eye can see and the fish pond has rippling blue waves, which is completely the scenery of a water town in the south of the Yangtze River.

Qiachuan Virgin Spring is even more amazing. Qiachuan is the birthplace of Guan Guan Jujiu in the Book of Songs. The reeds are faint and the moon is shining over the lotus pond. There is a beautiful woman, who can charm a city and a country with her smile. The love story between King Mu of Zhou and Taishi made the beautiful Virgin Spring famous far and wide. Walking in the reeds of the Wetland Park in the rain is like entering a fairyland, filled with smoke and very quiet, with only the sound of the wind blowing.

If you saw only the soft scenery of the wetlands and not the true face of the Yellow River along the Yellow Highway, when you reach the fork of the valley, you can truly appreciate the majesty of the Yellow River in the world. The rolling Yellow River water, laden with sediment, fell from the sky. Standing on the observation deck, the sight is full of the grandeur of "the sun sets over the mountains, and the Yellow River flows into the sea." I admire Wang Zhihuan, and no words can surpass his praise of the Yellow River.

"Hancheng has a story, a journey with flavor." is Hancheng's promotional slogan. After passing Heyang Station, you enter the boundary of Hancheng. The greenery, street lights, houses, and villages along the road are scattered in an orderly manner, simple and generous, with special care, and every detail is full of surprises. Many observation decks have been built along the road, with convenient parking and wide views, allowing tourists to overlook the Yellow River from high places. The city is clean and there are many scenic spots. The taxi driver proudly said that Hancheng is the cleanest city in Shaanxi.

Because of Sima Qian, Hancheng has attached great importance to education since ancient times and has many literati. As the local saying goes, "When you go to Simapo, there are more scholars than donkeys." The ancient dwellings in Dangjia Village have a history of hundreds of years. The bluestone lanes, hanging flower gate tower, Dangjia ancestral hall, Jiajia ancestral hall, Fenyin Courtyard, Biyang Castle, Wenxing Pavilion, etc. are all architectural masterpieces and residential treasures. More importantly, there are many excellent family trainings that are worth promoting. Due to heavy rain, we returned early. We were in a hurry and saw only a limited amount of sights. I hope I have another chance to go to Weinan and Hancheng again. They are worth seeing.
