Datong University Institute of Technology was formerly Shanxi Industrial Vocational and Technical College. In 2006, it merged with the former Yanbei Normal College, Datong Medical College and Datong Vocational College to form Shanxi Datong University. The former Shanxi Industrial Vocational and Technical College was abolished and became a secondary college under Datong University, namely, the Institute of Technology of Datong University. The campus where the school is located is called Wang Xinping Campus of Datong University.

At present, the other Xiangyang Street Campus and Xinjian Road Campus of Shanxi Datong University have been moved to the new main campus of Yudong in the summer of 2008 and 2009 respectively (formerly Yanbei Normal University Campus). Because the campus of Institute of Technology involves some fixed assets, such as school-run factories, it is difficult to move, so it will be moved to the main campus as early as 20 1 1 years ago.

The Institute of Technology is located in the mining area of Datong City, Shanxi Province, where there is the largest coal mining bureau in China-Datong Mining Bureau (now Datong Coal Industry Group). Ten minutes' drive from downtown Datong, one hour's drive from the main campus of Datong University and half an hour's drive from Yungang Grottoes in Datong.

Civil engineering (bachelor of engineering degree awarded by four-year undergraduate major)

Training goal: to train senior engineering and technical personnel engaged in planning, design, research and development, construction and management of civil engineering projects.

Main courses: engineering drawing, building structure, bridge structure, road survey and design, subgrade and pavement structure, construction technology and management, etc.
