Dean county belongs to Jiujiang city, Jiangxi province.

Dean County is located in the north of Jiangxi Province, the south of Jiujiang City and the middle section of Nanxun Line. In the Tang and Yu dynasties, it was called Ma Yuan. During the Spring and Autumn Period, the border of Wu Chu was known as "the tail of Chu and the head of Wu". It belongs to subtropical (northern margin) monsoon humid climate. It borders gongqingcheng city, Yongxiu County, Wuning County, Ruichang City and Jiujiang County.
