What are New Oriental’s requirements for teaching assistants?

SAT teaching assistant. Requirements: 1. Work conscientiously, down-to-earth and diligently; 2. Be able to work continuously for more than one month, and must be full-time; 3. In view of the special nature of New Oriental summer classes, teaching assistants need to be able to accept the arrangements of their superiors and be able to sacrifice part of their personal rest when necessary time. Besides: we have recently hired a lot of assistant coaches. I discovered a problem: the teaching assistant job is extremely unstable, which has also brought a lot of trouble to our work. Most of the teaching assistants were not honest with us when they came for interviews. Most college students who interview for teaching assistant positions have multiple preparations, and New Oriental is one of them. Their general idea is: New Oriental will hire them first, and they will have a guaranteed internship opportunity, or have something to do; and then they will look for other "more meaningful" things. During the interview, I also tried my best to directly see this kind of thinking of the teaching assistant interviewees, and then filtered them out as much as possible. For an employer, people with loose ideas and many tricks are unwelcome and absolutely useless! Even so, I met two college students who first agreed to be teaching assistants, but then told them not to do so. One of them even vowed that he could do it for two consecutive months. I was very happy to think that this classmate helped us solve a big problem. As a result, less than half a month after passing the interview, this classmate said that he would not be able to come during the summer vacation because he wanted to go abroad for exchange. Well, whether it’s overseas exchanges or domestic exchanges, I can’t kidnap people to come to New Oriental. Maybe there is a real reason, so I didn't pursue the issue of these two people too much. The first question is, why did you come to New Oriental as a teaching assistant? Many people come to New Oriental to work as teaching assistants, and there are only a few reasons: to increase work experience, improve their skills in dealing with people, understand New Oriental, improve their English level, etc. Let’s talk about work experience first. What kind of work experience do you want to gain when you come to New Oriental? Most teaching assistant jobs in regular small classes are simple: taking attendance, taking notes, and helping students order meals. What kind of work experience can this add? Think it through and then answer me! Let’s talk about skills in dealing with people. In most cases, small class teaching assistants are calm and don’t need to communicate too much with students. Can they improve their skills in dealing with people? It's fine if you come to New Oriental to work in sales or customer service for a month, but the job content of a teaching assistant won't give you any skills in dealing with people. Secondly, understand New Oriental? I don’t rule out that fans who love New Oriental will become assistant coaches. But I don’t agree with most of the interviewees who claim to like, love New Oriental, and yearn for New Oriental’s corporate culture. My own purpose of coming to New Oriental to teach was not "longing for New Oriental's corporate culture", but I still did it for more than three years; those "quasi-teaching assistants" who are eager to go elsewhere before they start teaching will yearn for New Oriental's culture! ! Finally, improving English proficiency is also the most commonly used reason. But unfortunately, being a teaching assistant cannot improve your English! Some people say that as a teaching assistant, you can attend classes for free. On the one hand, this shows that this person has impure motives for becoming a teaching assistant, and on the other hand, it shows that this person has misunderstandings about learning. Do you have to attend lectures to study? Who says that you will definitely improve after taking classes? Will you definitely do well in the exam? Listening to lectures should be combined with exercises. Many students in small classes feel that learning in New Oriental’s classes is ineffective. That’s because they have made big mistakes! They only listened to the lectures but did not practice, so there was no effect! If the teaching assistant comes to New Oriental just to attend classes, the result will be the same! ! The second question is, what do you want to gain from being a teaching assistant at New Oriental? Having negated all the reasons mentioned above for coming to New Oriental as a teaching assistant, what can you get from coming to New Oriental? The answers are still diverse, and some answers need to be discovered at work. For example, for a student majoring in psychology, being a teaching assistant can let him/her know the level, level, character, personality, hobbies, etc. of the current students. This first-hand information can help the college student complete his studies better. It can be written into examples for graduation thesis, PS for study abroad applications, or used in future consulting work.

Can you get these by attending classes? ! For another example, for a student majoring in English education, New Oriental's teaching assistant job can make him/her think: Why do students have such and such problems? Why can't I learn English well? Why do you think learning English is boring? Why is there no consciousness? This kind of thinking can also help this student improve, which is much more practical and useful than taking a class at New Oriental! ! For another example, for a computer major student, you can even think about how to make a set of English learning software that is complete, detailed, and easy to query and use? What kind of software can students accept? From this, we can think about how to use computer software tools to improve the efficiency of language research and English teaching, and how to integrate computer software and English learning more closely. From this, this computer major student has his own research direction and areas of expertise, which is much more valuable than taking a class at New Oriental! ! When you come to New Oriental as a teaching assistant, you work for New Oriental and serve New Oriental's customers. You are here to work! You have gone from being customers to being workers and service providers now. Therefore, New Oriental will not put a lot of energy on you. If you want to improve your abilities and gain something, you have to rely on yourself! When New Oriental turns its attention to you, that is often when you have made some mistakes! The third question is, how much time do you have for New Oriental? This is what I pay special attention to when recruiting teaching assistants. When a person comes to work for an organization, the organization will of course consider how long this person can work for me. For units, staff turnover means instability. Therefore, the longer employees stay in the same company, the more stable the company will be, the more people will be united, the more experienced the employees will be, the better they will understand each other, and the higher their execution and efficiency will be. It is a pity that most of the students who come to New Oriental as teaching assistants have a guerrilla mentality of one shot and another place. I will come to New Oriental as a teaching assistant for one month this summer, and then I will work as an intern at a certain company for one month during the winter vacation next year. I will change again during the summer vacation. This is still good. If something goes wrong, I will do several internships during the summer vacation. As I said before, no employer will like a teaching assistant who has many thoughts and tricks. Before becoming a teaching assistant, I hope everyone will think clearly about how much working time they can guarantee to New Oriental. Can you achieve perfect attendance within the given time? I once met a teaching assistant in the middle school department. There are four weekends in a month in the autumn weekend class. On the first weekend, I was in class, but she had something to do at home, so she asked for leave; on the second weekend, I was in class, and a relative in her family was getting married. Asking for leave; on the third weekend, a distant relative of her family got married and asked for leave; on the fourth weekend, when I was in class, she came, but was late because it was raining and there was traffic jam that day. There are only four weekends in a month, three of them were taken off, and one weekend came, but it was late. On rainy days, the bus speed is slower, and the pick-up and drop-off time is longer than usual. You will definitely spend more time on the road than usual. This is a completely foreseeable situation. Being late is completely avoidable. Can't you get out earlier! ! This is not only a question of what kind of impression it leaves on me and my students and clients, not only is it a question of damaging the image of New Oriental, but it is also a question of reflecting the professionalism of this teaching assistant! ! I hope that teaching assistants can work in New Oriental for a month, preferably a whole summer vacation, and even better, work in New Oriental for multiple consecutive holidays. Only in this way can you increase your work experience and discover and get what you want. Enough said. Everyone who wants to be a teaching assistant at New Oriental is asked to think carefully about the above questions. Think it through and come again. Otherwise, it will be of no benefit to you; it may also be harmful to New Oriental and its customers.
