New policy to improve social workers’ remuneration in 2017, when will the salary be increased?

On October 18, 2016, twelve departments including the Ministry of Civil Affairs jointly issued the "Opinions on Strengthening the Development of Social Work Professional Positions and Talent Incentives and Guarantees."

The "Opinions" put forward a series of policies and measures to strengthen the development of social work professional positions and talent incentive guarantees. Through a national top-level design, it provides policy basis for strengthening the use of social work professional talents and incentive guarantees. It aims to break the bottlenecks that restrict the use of social work professionals and ensure the comprehensive, healthy and sustainable development of social work.

The "National Community Service System Construction Plan (2016-2020)" was announced. The plan proposes that during the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, we will strive to have an average of no less than 10 community social organizations in urban communities, an average of no less than 5 social organizations in rural communities, and each urban and rural community will be equipped with at least one community social worker. The number of registered volunteers in urban and rural communities accounts for 13% of residents in the region. Community social work will usher in great development.
