Dengchuan Town is the south gate of Eryuan County, Yunnan Province. /kloc-0 was established in June, 985, and was an official town in ancient times. There are three rivers in the territory, namely Miju River, Luoshi River and Yong 'an River, which are listed as "Chuan", hence the name Deng Chuan. Deng Chuantie was set up in Chenghua period of Ming Dynasty and dedicated for fourteen years (164 1). Dengchuan Prefecture was moved here from the old state and renamed as NSW, which served as the seat of Dengchuan Prefecture and Dengchuan County until Jianchuan County was established at the end of 1958. Deng Chuan is located between east longitude1005 ′ and north latitude 25 59 ′, with high terrain in the northwest and low terrain in the southeast, but relatively gentle. It borders Shangguan Town of Dali City in the east and south, and borders Yousuo Town of the county in the west and north. Xinzhou, where the town government is located, is1980m above sea level, 23km away from Eryuan County and 54km away from Xiaguan County.

Deng Chuan Dam belongs to the faulted lakeside basin, with the highest elevation of 3400 meters at Woniu Mountain and the lowest elevation of Zhongheqiao 1970 meters. The water system belongs to Lancang River, with annual runoff 1.38 billion cubic meters. It belongs to low latitude plateau monsoon climate, with annual rainfall of 800 ~ 1 100 mm, annual sunshine time of 2440 hours and frost-free period of 240 days. February and August are low temperature, with annual average temperature of 15℃ and annual average relative humidity of 69%.
