Hometown education with the sound of trees.
Faced with the special system at that time, Uncle Cun was disheartened and returned to his hometown in Yunnan on 1939, ready to do business on the Yunnan-Myanmar highway.
Tengchong County, Yunnan Province is a beautiful place, but it is also a very unique place compared with most closed areas in Yunnan. The special geographical position makes Tengchong face Southeast Asia since childhood, and the prosperity of border trade has brought about the collision between Central Plains culture and Southeast Asian culture here. It is in this environment that a large number of outstanding figures in Yunnan history, such as Zhang Wenguang, Ai Siqi and Zhang, stepped onto the historical stage.
At that time, there was only one provincial ordinary middle school in Tengchong county, and its fees were expensive for ordinary rural children. In order to let more Tengchong children master more knowledge, Li Renjie, an old Tengchong educator and scholar, founded a rural overseas Chinese middle school-private Yiqun Middle School in the border area of Yunnan and Myanmar with the donation of Chongxin Society, an overseas Chinese organization in Myanmar, and the strong sponsorship of Li Genyuan, a veteran of the Republic of China. Li Genyuan is the president of the school.
After the establishment of the school, the school preparatory committee learned that Cun Shusheng had returned to Yunnan and invited Cun Shusheng to be the principal. But at the moment, after many ups and downs, the voice of "I'm tired of education" politely refused.
Finally, in the face of repeated requests from my hometown elders, Yunnan people's infinite affection for their hometown overcame Cun Shusheng's personal thoughts. The wanderer from afar finally returned to his hometown, and Cun Shusheng became the principal of Yiqun Middle School and concurrently served as the principal of Heshun Central Primary School and the director of Heshun Library!
After the arrival of scholar Cun, he entrusted Wu Han and recruited a group of professionals displaced by the Anti-Japanese War from other provinces to work as teachers in the home front. He also went to Myanmar to raise funds among overseas Chinese to run schools. Books were purchased from Shanghai, Kunming and other places. Thanks to the painstaking efforts of scholars, Yiqun Middle School and Heshun Township Library are famous all over the country, and celebrities, experts and scholars have written inscriptions, which still exist today.
On the teaching policy, Cun Shusheng thinks that we must attach importance to the "regional special type" of frontier education. He said: "... we should not let the school become a special existence of the ivory tower, and let the students become special people who are divorced from society and production." This conscious understanding of the voice of the inch tree reminds people of the "educational elite" we see today, which is simply shameful.
Cun Shusheng always regards education and society as a whole, and his ultimate goal is to realize social change through the influence of education. Therefore, in addition to imparting cultural knowledge, the requirements for students are also very strict.
He stipulated that all students should wear shorts, sandals and shave their heads, and use local homespun cloth in a unified way, and can't wear clothes of other colors, which suppressed the flashy atmosphere. Students are required to clean the environment near their homes once a week to improve the sanitary conditions in rural areas. Organize a student fire brigade, and prohibit students from smoking, gambling, drinking, eating snacks, spitting and urinating.
He personally served as the "citizen" class teacher of the students. He put aside the hypocritical and empty theories in the textbooks at that time, contrasted them with solid social phenomena and political measures, and attacked them with a serious expression. In this way, the students' hearts are subtly influenced. The students of Yiqun Middle School have repeatedly put out mountain fires in the mountains and put out fires in the countryside, all of which have shown heroic and tenacious spirit.
He attached great importance to students' physical exercise, personally took the lead in opening up the playground, digging the swimming pool, and made his wife a physical education teacher. At that time, in a village with a strong feudal atmosphere, a woman was jumping around the playground with her students, which greatly shocked the minds of local villagers.
Village tree students know that a closed rural environment will make students nearsighted. According to the specific situation of Tengchong, he opened a unique Burmese learning course in Yiqun Middle School at that time, so that students could master the tools of foreign learning. He also bought a radio and copied the international and domestic trends on paper every day and distributed them to various organs in neighboring villages and counties. He himself often gives speeches to spread current affairs knowledge to students and villagers.
The efforts of Shu Shusheng have achieved fruitful results: under the guidance of teachers, Yiqun middle school students collected plants and made specimens in Heshun Township, compared them with the specimens, and compiled the Plant Survey in Heshun Township; At that time, Tengchong had not planted wheat, and students from Yiqun Middle School took the lead in planting a piece. After the harvest, local agriculture has this crop variety.
What moved the end of the wind was that there were many students in Yiqun Middle School who applied for village scholars at that time, some were from other towns or counties, some were young people from nearby Dai towns and villages, and some were children of returned overseas Chinese. It is worth mentioning that the Gong brothers, the chieftain of Nandian, are the "gentlemen" of Wang Shujia, the magistrate of Tengchong County. These rich people did not go to the county middle school, but came to this rural school with difficult conditions. In addition to the recognition of the education model of village tree students, we can also see that under the influence of village tree students, local people are far-sighted in educating their children. This also makes many parents who regard their children as "little emperors" worth pondering.
However, in May of 1942, the Japanese invaders set foot in Tengchong. On May 8, Murakami gave all the students the "last lesson" with tears in his eyes, announced that the school was closed, and left the place where he worked hard for two and a half years in a hurry on the morning of the 9 th. His "rural experiment" died from now on!
However, he never gave up his feelings for frontier education. After the fall of Tengchong, scholar Cun went into exile in Kunming and Chongqing. Even when he was displaced and in great trouble, he did not forget his students. He organized and set up a group reunion in Kunming, trying his best to care for and help students.
After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Murakami Shusheng returned to his hometown and re-erected the golden signboard of Yiqun Middle School. The middle school persisted and improved greatly.
During the Cultural Revolution, Cunshusheng was not spared and persecuted. 1978 died of illness in Kunming.
The name and achievements of a generation of educators, Shu Sheng, are with the mountains and rivers in their hometown, and will be recorded in China's history books forever.
