What should a breeder do to improve the egg-laying ability of pigeons?

Pigeon breeding is a new industry in China. However, due to the low egg laying rate of meat pigeons, many pigeon farms have low economic benefits, and even some pigeon farms have closed down from time to time, which has hindered the normal development of meat pigeon breeding industry to some extent. Seven key points to improve the laying rate of meat pigeons were summarized, which increased the laying rate of meat pigeons from 4 ~ 5 nests per year to 9 ~ 12 nests per year, and improved the economic benefits.

Reasonable preparation of meat pigeon feed to meet the nutritional needs of breeding pigeons

Feed formula: corn 50%, wheat 15%, grain 10%, broken rice 5% and beans 20% (preferably black beans). Because yellow corn contains vitamin A and lutein, it can improve the egg production rate, while white corn is lacking, so yellow corn should be used more. Cereal germ contains tocopherol, which can also promote more eggs, so its dosage cannot be reduced.

Rational allocation and adequate supply of healthy sand

In addition to loess, charcoal, salt and river sand, "Quick Supplement 2 1" and "Increasing Egg Prosperity" and 20% bone meal should be added to the health sand. The unreasonable preparation of sanitary sand in many pigeon farms has affected the improvement of egg production rate.

Pay attention to breeding and keeping high-yield breeding pigeons, and cultivate high-product lines.

All breeding pigeons with strong egg laying durability, short winter rest period, high egg laying intensity and more than 8 pairs of eggs a year can be regarded as high-yield pigeons and should be kept in production. For breeding pigeons that lay less than 8 eggs a year and have low yield, they should be re-bred. If the output is still not high after reorganization, the unqualified breeding pigeons will be eliminated mercilessly. For the cultivation of high-yield strains, excellent offspring of high-yield breeding pigeons can be cultivated through breeding and hybridization of this variety.

Strengthen health care and disease prevention and control.

Any disease has an impact on the egg laying rate, especially pigeon paratyphoid fever, pigeon tuberculosis and dysentery can completely stop breeding pigeons from laying eggs.

Strengthen the control and improvement of environmental conditions

The environmental factors affecting the egg laying rate are light, humidity, temperature, air pressure, ventilation, sound and so on. Light is an important factor, and insufficient light will reduce the egg laying rate. For example, there is a pigeon farm in Guandang Township, dangyang city, and the breeding pigeons are in darkness, which makes most breeding pigeons unable to lay eggs and forced to close down. Therefore, breeding pigeons must receive 10 hours of light every day, and supplement 1 ~ 2 hours every day in winter. Temperature is also an important factor. The suitable temperature for breeding pigeons to lay eggs is 13 ~ 2 1℃.

Pay attention to the eggs and combine them.

After laying eggs for 5 days, the pigeons were photographed to remove sperm eggs, and then photographed for the second time on 14 days to remove dead embryo eggs. For the single eggs left in different nests of the same age, we should combine the eggs, that is, put them in one nest, so that some breeding pigeons can lay eggs again and improve the egg laying rate.

It's not easy to breed, so I suggest you have a common drug, Escherichia coli (Gram), Chlamydia (Wan Huning) and paramyxovirus (Duxiu), to prevent problems before they happen.
