1. Admissions Major

Foreign doctoral students at Shanghai University of Chinese Medicine are divided into full-time foreign doctoral students (hereinafter referred to as "full-time doctoral students" ) and part-time foreign doctoral students (hereinafter referred to as "part-time doctoral students"). Training is generally conducted in Chinese, and some courses and teaching can be conducted in English or Japanese.

Recruitment majors can be found in the "Directory of Foreign Doctoral Postgraduate Admissions Supervisors of Shanghai University of Chinese Medicine" (Appendix 1); for professional overview, please see "Overview of Postgraduate Admissions Majors of Shanghai University of Chinese Medicine" (Appendix 2). The school requires applicants to contact the relevant professional tutors of our school in advance and submit the "Shanghai University of Chinese Medicine Tutor Intention Form for Accepting Foreign Doctoral Students" (Attachment 3) issued by the tutor (see Attachment 15 for details on the process of obtaining the Intention Form) along with the application materials. 2. Academic system

The academic system lasts for three years and can be extended to five years at most.

3. Application Qualifications

Applicants should be of foreign nationality and in good health;

The age is generally under 55 years old (recommended by our school's long-term cooperative units, with Applicants with strong academic ability may relax the age limit appropriately);

Applicants’ Chinese proficiency must reach the new HSK level 5 with a score of 180 or above (completing secondary and tertiary education in Chinese as a medium) (or) Higher education students do not require this). English-taught and Japanese-taught majors do not require applicants’ Chinese proficiency; applicants whose native language is English-taught countries should have a TOEFL score of no less than 90 or an IELTS score of no less than 6.5. .

Applicants with non-traditional Chinese medicine background need to have an undergraduate education background in medicine or related sciences, and have certain independent learning and scientific research capabilities in professional knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine.

IV. Application materials

Personal Ordinary Passport Scan (Passport must be valid within 6 months from the date of submission of application);

A frameless, frontal photo with no hat within 6 months (the background color is white or Blue, 3.5*5.4 cm; pixels: 626*413, file size: 100-500K);

Scan copy of highest education and/or degree certificate: If the applicant is a graduate, he or she must submit a scanned copy of the graduation certificate and/or degree certificate; if the applicant is a current student, he or she must submit a scanned copy of the certificate of enrollment issued by the school where he or she attends. Applicants who have obtained academic qualification certificates abroad must submit, if necessary, a notarized scanned copy of the academic qualification certificate in accordance with the school's requirements; if the academic qualification certificate provided by the applicant is in a text other than Chinese or English, a notarized copy of the academic qualification certificate must be submitted in Chinese or English. Applicants for full-time doctoral students must provide scanned copies of the "Recommendation Letters" of two experts with associate professors or above in relevant majors (see "Foreign Doctoral Candidates at Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine" Application Form") (Attachment 4). Applications for part-time doctoral students are required to provide "Recommendation Letters" from three experts with the title of associate professor or above (see the "Application Form for Foreign Doctoral Students at Shanghai University of Chinese Medicine") (Attachment 4). After applicants are admitted, they must bring the originals of relevant materials for verification when reporting to school. If it is found to be inconsistent with the content of the application materials, the school has the right to cancel the applicant's admission qualification.

Applicants for the Chinese Government Scholarship and Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship must submit the "Physical Examination Form for Foreigners" (Attachment 11). After being admitted, the applicant must bring the original health certificate (physical examination certificate) for verification when registering at the school; those with chronic diseases must be informed in advance.
