The Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in western Hunan was a county between Chu and Qian during the Warring States Period. In 1955, Xiangxi Miao Autonomous Prefecture was changed to Xiangxi Miao Autonomous Prefecture. On September 20, 1957, the Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture was established. There are many cultural monuments in the state, and there are a large number of natural and cultural landscape relics in and around Laosicheng. Xiangxi is also one of the birthplaces of Wuling culture. It is also one of the three prefecture-level administrative regions that enjoys relevant policies.

Among them, the added value of the primary industry was 11.168 billion yuan, an increase of 4%; the added value of the secondary industry was 20.425 billion yuan, an increase of 3.1%; the added value of the tertiary industry was 40.918 billion yuan, an increase of 1.4%.
