I am a native of Xitang. I'm not familiar with Luoyang, but I'll tell you how to get to Xitang:

You can go to Shanghai and then to Xitang. Or go to Jiaxing and then to Xitang. You are far away. I suggest you take the high-speed train, or you can transfer to Xitang when you go to Hangzhou.

Tell you a few points:

Shanghai South Bus Station or Bus Terminal is OK, Jiashan Passenger Transport Center, and the fare is within 20 yuan. Then Jiashan can buy a ticket from Jiashan to Xitang at the central ticket window. The fare is 5 yuan, which is very cheap, and it takes 30 minutes to Xitang.

There is a direct bus from Jiaxing North Bus Station to Xitang, and the fare is about 10 yuan.

There is also a through train from Hangzhou to Xitang, and the fare is less than that in 70 yuan. You can check the flights and fares by Baidu.

In addition, you can take the high-speed train to Jiashan or Jiaxing in Hangzhou, and the fare is 60 yuan.

Xitang can evade tickets and strictly investigate holidays. Every intersection is guarded by security guards, so it is difficult to sneak in.

Usually you can enter the alley without a ticket from Monday to Friday. Someone will check the tickets at the weekend.

But I can tell you one way. After arriving at Xitang, first find a pavilion in Little Square, next to the Second Hospital (a hospital), and then cross this square. There is a street selling breakfast and so on. There are several hutongs in that street belonging to the same ancient town. Like may day, there must be someone watching, so you can't get in. But you can go in through the back door of the owner's house. You can ask the boss how much it costs to go in. Generally, 30 yuan is half price. If you lower the price, 20 yuan should be able to let you in. But when you get off at Xitang bus station, a tricycle will ask you if you want to evade the ticket. I don't know the price. You can follow the tricycle if it's cheap.

Besides, the hotels in Xitang are very expensive. I don't think it is worth it. Expensive, few houses and poor facilities. If you don't plan to go to Xitang in the evening, you can stay in Jiashan. If you come to Jiashan, there is a business hotel in Jiashan Mall, but it is not lively at night. The busy streets in Jiashan are: Shijia Road.
