Take exit A of Dafen subway station, take 1000m, turn four big bends and pass hundreds of trees.

The air in Shenzhen may not be fresh enough, but it is definitely free enough. At the end of such an obscure street, hidden in rows of painting shops drying wet oil paintings, there are countless artistic people.

Dafen Oil Painting Village was formerly known as Buji Dafen Village in Longgang, Shenzhen. It used to be an ordinary Hakka village with no more than 200 residents.

1989, Hong Kong painter Huang Jiang came here with a dozen painters, and everything changed. He recruits students and workers to copy oil paintings, with a monthly salary of more than 2,000 yuan.

It was this high enough salary that attracted a large number of painters to gather here.

If you don't pay attention to very solid basic skills, you don't need superb technology. This painter paints mountains, that painter paints water, that painter paints mountains and waters, and that painter paints trees and flowers. Assembly line operation enables batches of paintings to be efficiently produced and exported abroad.

At that time, Huang Jiang did not expect that this replication model would be the embryonic form of Dafen Village's future commercial oil painting industry. What's more, the Hakka village turned out to be the first oil painting village in China.

What is the difference between a painter and a painter?

In the simplest terms, painters are like photocopiers.

Zhang Zhiguo, a painter and member of China Calligraphers Association, said: "There are a large number of painters in the painting world now, and all the paintings seem to be carved in the same mold. For example, at present, the sales of peony paintings on the market are good. A group of painters are painting peony, and each peony looks the same. Such works are neither creative nor vital. "

The difference between a painter and a painter lies in his heart.

But there are still a group of people who are not painters, or even painters. In the early Dafen oil painting village, they can be seen everywhere, living in 16 board houses, and even many people have no place to live, sleeping on canvas and spending the night together.

At that time, the outside world called these people painters.

Most painters draw line drawings.

It is the kind of work that is usually used for home decoration, without any personal feelings and artistry, let alone collection value.

There are many paintings in Dafen Oil Painting Village.

Around 2005, according to statistics, 70% of oil paintings in European and American markets came from China and 80% from Dafen.

Huge demand and soaring sales support a large number of painters, but the proliferation of line drawing in the art field has also become the focus of more and more people's attention.

We interviewed such a group of people in today's video.

A group of people who have experienced wandering between business and art and have insisted and weighed in their hearts.

Teacher Deng spent seven or eight years in Dafen Oil Painting Village, which was the moment when Dafen Oil Painting Village was criticized by the society for its painting output.

Although there are many discussions, Mr. Deng is still optimistic about the development prospects of Dafen Oil Painting Village. For this reason, he explained to us, "This is, after all, a focus of the combination of art and commodities, and there is a platform for us to play."

He admits that life still has to be lived. People who love painting and make a living from it must have food to talk about their dreams.

And art, in fact, should be more refined and more popular.

In other words, making a painting is an art in the eyes of collectors. In the eyes of ordinary people, we can also see the beauty and value in the painting.

What Mr. Deng is doing now is to appeal to both refined and popular tastes and convey the truth, goodness and beauty.

He said that people who want to see their paintings will feel that the world is full of hope, and the picture is beautiful, already beautiful. The world is beautiful.

He wants to inject an upward growth energy into people.

Tang Tang is the manager of a handicraft shop in Dafen Oil Painting Village. She makes customized guitar paintings and teaches people to talk about guitars. She has a good voice and is good at singing. When she was interviewed by us, she talked a lot about her growth and changes since she came to Dafen Oil Painting Village.

She said that when she first came out, she had no money and chose to come to Dafen Oil Painting Village, not only because it was a place for more people to see her works, but also because the wall rent here was cheap.

At first, her paintings were very artistic. She helps people draw pictures and pays attention to structure and three-dimensional sense. Later, she gradually discovered that the paintings made in this way may have reached the level of appreciation, but customers don't like them.

Because maybe customers just want a more beautiful self.

She said that maybe everyone engaged in this industry needs to go through such a road:

"Because we want to live, our paintings must be commercialized first. I must make it beautiful and decorative first. "

But keeping a loving heart will never change.

She told us with a smile, in fact, many times, when I really get into it, I think some guests will bother me when they come to buy things. Why do you want to buy things at this time? Can you buy it again tomorrow?

In addition to the above-mentioned oil painter Mr. Deng and the owner of the handicraft shop, we also interviewed Mr. Gao, a knife painter, and Mr. Fu, a China painter who painted knife paintings in Northeast China.

They all work hard for a better life and burn themselves for art.
