CGV is an international professional chain cinema operator and a high-end cinema brand. Established in 1996, CGV is a subsidiary of CJ Group, which operates the largest multi-hall cinema in Korea, and is headquartered in Seoul. 1In April 1998, CGV opened the first multi-hall cinema in Korea and introduced it to the east of Seoul for the first time.

At the end of 2006, CGV opened the first cinemas in China in China and Shanghai, and in June 20 10, it set up the first cinema of its North American branch in Los Angeles, California, and in July 20 1 10, it acquired Megastar, the largest chain cinema in Vietnam.

By the end of 20 19, CGV had more than 530 high-end cinemas and more than 3,900 high-quality screens in 8 countries and regions including China, Korea, the United States, Indonesia and Turkey. Since CGV entered the China market in 2006, it has opened 140 high-end cinemas in 64 cities including China, Shanghai, Beijing and Hongkong, with 1095 screens.
