Some people say that Water Margin is a story of "three women and 105 men", but in my opinion, among the three heroines, only Hu Sanniang is half a woman, and the other two, Sun Erniang, an evil woman, are the female version of Song Wu, the female version of Gu Dasao and the female version of Li Kui jy. They are all peak sexual characteristics, more masculine than men, and have no female characteristics except their names. Therefore, the women in Water Margin mentioned in this article are mainly Pan Jinlian and Lu Junyi's wife Jia.

They have a common feature, that is, they are not good things by the standards then or now. Everyone has an affair with his legal partner, and some even entrap and kill his husband. Some people also call them the "four sluts" of the Water Margin.

Some people use this as an argument to infer that the author of Water Margin has discrimination and prejudice against women. The heroes who are not close to women in Water Margin are "not very important" in terms of women's sexuality, but they just "work hard" all day, which seems to further confirm this inference.

So, what is the truth? This paper tries to find out the reason behind this phenomenon-whether the author of Water Margin discriminates against women.

1. The female image prototype in Water Margin

Yan Poxi first appeared in Water Margin and Song Legacy. This book plagiarizes old books, some of which are similar to telling stories, others are similar to telling history, and the stitching trace is obvious, so it is defined as a meta-publication by academic circles.

Song Jiang went home, cured his father's illness, and then went to Yuncheng County on business. Only to see old friends Yan Poxi and Wei Wu warm up, or even less. Pan Jinlian's prototype may be written in the commentary "Warrior" recorded in "Drunken Weng Tan Lu", and it is more likely that Gao Wenxiu, a dramatist of the Yuan Dynasty, wrote it in "Double Sacrifice for the Revenge of Song and Wu". Unfortunately, both are lost. Another work by Gao Wenxiu, Black Whirlwind Double Contribution, is also based on the love affair between his wife and official's son Bai. At the same time, Kang's jy's Negative Classics was fully quoted by the author of Water Margin and included in the book.

So is there no way to understand the original image of Pan Jinlian? That's not true. There is a very similar plot in the sixteenth volume of Jingshi Tongyan, Little Lady Giving Young People Money:

Nowadays, it is said that there is a man in Kaifengfu in the border state of Tokyo who is over 60 years old and needs to grow up. Just because you are not old, you are greedy.

Wang Zhao informed the little lady who came out of the house. When Wang Gang got married, he liked Ben very much. Later, he made a few mistakes after only trying one sentence and lost his master's heart. He is willing to give it to others for nothing, as long as he has a family style. Tens of thousands of people have less juice in their carry-on luggage, but they are younger.

A 60-year-old veteran wants to marry a wife. From a man's point of view, this is similar to Wu Dalang-the defects are very obvious. The little lady was also driven out of the house by a large family. As long as a man is willing to take over, the master (king) is willing to betroth the little lady to anyone. This is very similar to Pan Jinlian's opportunity.

After marriage, the little lady was naturally very dissatisfied with her old man's husband, so after the old man went out, he had the following plot:

In the second half of this paper, ghosts and gods are mixed, and the theme to be expressed is not high. At the same time, no one can identify Shi Jing Tong Yan as a book of the Song Dynasty, because judging from the dialogue in classical Chinese, Feng Menglong did not know how many hands he went through when he collected it, and it is more likely that it was a book of the previous dynasty, which continued to be polished in the Ming Dynasty.

Because the plots of Yang Xiong and Shi Xiu are independent of other chapters of Water Margin, it can be said with certainty that the author of the book refers to the already formed storyline, such as Sun Li's going through customs and going to Dengzhou. It's a pity that at least one of Sun Li's real names is Stone Sun Li, which gives you a little imagination. No water margin play or novel is named after Yang Xiong Shi Xiu.

So, is it impossible to understand the original image of Yang Xiong's wife Pan Qiaoyun? Not exactly.

In "Ancient and Modern Zaju", there is a 60% discount play "Money Kill Wife". It tells the story of a butcher, Zhang Qian, who is loyal to his sworn brothers. Zhang Qian accompanied W's wife to the grave, and W's wife made a request on the spot, which was rejected by Zhang Qian:

Holding it on the altar when not gambling, this woman is as bold as heaven. Just not afraid of outsiders to see Liu. This is not upset. Sages of all ages have made fools of themselves. If you don't want to commit the crime of Wang Wenzhang, please ask others to follow the canon. Do not smell nine evils and three virtues, three obedience and four virtues. Today I went to the grave, and my ancestors saw me. The soul is in the grave, and you are not afraid of heaven. Think about it and leave a bad reputation for future generations.

After Zhang Qian refused, the foreigner's wife got drunk and asked Zhang Qian to kill her husband. See you later. Zhang Qian didn't kill Mr W, but he wanted to kill Mr W himself. Zhang Qian couldn't wake the policeman, so he bowed four times to his brother, grabbed his sister-in-law with a knife and said, "I'll kill you for my brother." Then he cut her in half.

This is also the story of a brother-in-law who killed his sister-in-law. The core contradiction is adultery, but the difference is that Pan Qiaoyun had an affair with a monk. So was there any record of adultery or Pinghua by monks in the Song and Yuan Dynasties? The answer is yes.

Mr. Lu Xun once pointed out that many stories in Jane Yizhi are interlinked with Water Margin, including a short story.

At the beginning of Shaoxing, fifteen miles north of Xujiangbei, a monk visited the Huangke Pavilion and said,' Common name Ding.' After staying for a few days, master Bai said,' I beg in the city every day and return it at night.' Every few months, the money is also divided into yellow. Differentiate, get along for a long time, no doubt. Choose his wife. My wife is still young and tolerant. She likes the monk's posture and makes money by counting, so she refused with pride. In the dark, the monks came in, and the room was naturally on, with no lights. Robes and gold bars sit on the wall. They are like the buddhas and bodhisattvas painted in the world. When his wife was shocked by his admiration, the monk jumped down and said,' I am not from this world, so don't let it go out. That is, stay and eat indiscriminately. Naturally, every husband will go out.

There are two other stories in Jian Yizhi, Wang Fugong's Wife and Yi Fu's Revenge, which are similar to those in Sanzang's Notes in Qing Ping Shan Tang Huaben. Many people think that the bamboo slips and monks in Qing Ping Shan Ben are original, but I agree with Mr. Zhang that it was polished at least in the Yuan Dynasty. )

"Notes on Monks" said that a monk saw that Huang Fusong's wife Yang was beautiful and ordered someone to send her an anonymous note, which aroused Huang Fusong's suspicion and divorced his wife through the authorities. Desperate and on the verge of despair, Yang was finally forced to fall into the trap carefully arranged by the monk. Finally, the truth came out, the monk was punished, and Yang and Huang Fusong became husband and wife again.

Therefore, in popular literature, even if monks are not "lust hungry ghosts", they are by no means strict in discipline and not close to women. Pan Qiaoyun was having an affair with a monk, and there are many clues to follow in the note novel Pinghua.
