Chengnan Expressway is a section of the "five vertical and seven horizontal" national trunk line from Shanghai to Chengdu planned by the state. It is an important channel connecting central and eastern Sichuan and the main road supporting the construction of the Three Gorges Project and the exchange of materials inside and outside the province. 36 counties under the jurisdiction of Chengdu, Deyang, Suining and Nanchong are affected by this project, with a population of about 25 million, most of whom are rural population. After the completion of Chengnan Expressway, the journey from Chengdu to Nanchong was shortened from 6 hours to 2 hours, which greatly improved the highway transportation conditions in central and eastern Sichuan, shortened the time and space gap with the central, western and eastern coastal areas, accelerated the pace of poverty alleviation in the hinterland of central Sichuan, eastern Sichuan and northern Sichuan, and promoted the economic and social development of Chengnan Corridor and eastern Sichuan.

The main line of Chengnan expressway starts from Luosiba in Chengdu, passes eastward through Jintang Huaikou, Cangshan in Zhongjiang County, Penglai in Pengxi County and Guihua in Suining City, and ends at Nanchong Civil Engineering, with the main line of 208. 1 km. In addition, Shilidian is 6.84 kilometers from Luosiba. The total length is 215.45km, which is nearly118km shorter than the original chengnan road.

The whole line of Chengnan Expressway is constructed according to expressway standards, including the Chengdu connecting line Shilidian to Luosiba section of 6.84km, and the Luosiba to Jintang Liaojiachang section of 19.567km. Chengnan expressway started construction on 1 999165438+1October1,and was completed and opened to traffic on February 23rd, 2002.
