Anji County belongs to Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province, and is located in the hinterland of the Yangtze River Delta. The Tianmu Mountain Range enters from the southwest and is divided into two branches, which surround both sides of the county seat. It is a dustpan-shaped convergent basin surrounded by mountains on three sides, with a middle depression and an opening in the northeast. The terrain is high in the southwest and low in the northeast, belonging to subtropical maritime monsoon climate, with a county area of 1.886 square kilometers.

Anji County was founded in Zhong Ping in the Han Dynasty for two years. It is named according to the meaning of the Book of Songs. It is an important activity place of the ancient Yue State, and it is also the seat of the county administration of the ancient Shu County, one of the 36 counties in Qin Dynasty. Famous artists such as Wu Yun, a Southern Liang writer, Zhu Ran, a general of Soochow in the Three Kingdoms, Wu Changshuo, a master of modern art, Chen Rong, a famous forester and Zhu Lesan emerged.

The main water system in Anji County is Xitiaoxi, and its upstream Xixi and Nanxi meet in Tangpu Changtan Village, forming the main stream of Xitiaoxi, which obliquely passes through the county from southwest to northeast, exits the county at the creek mouth where Longwangxi, Huxi, Li Xi, Hunnigang and Xiaoshugang meet, and the drainage area of Xitiaoxi County is 1.
