What universities are there in Lingang New Town?

There are three new ports in Shanghai: Shanghai Ocean University, Shanghai Maritime University and Shanghai Dianji University.

Shanghai Ocean University is a university jointly established by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the State Oceanic Administration and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. It is a national and world-class discipline construction university. Extended Information Shanghai Ocean University was selected into the Education and Training Program of Excellent Agricultural and Forestry Talents of the Ministry of Education, the National Postgraduate Program of High-level University Construction, the National Key Characteristic Discipline Project, the Shanghai High-level Local University Construction Program, the National New Agricultural Research Reform Practice Project, and the National College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program. Universities with typical experience in graduate employment in China, universities with overseas students from China receiving scholarships from the China government, the first batch of overall pilot schools for ideological and political education and teaching reform in Shanghai, the first batch of demonstration universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in Shanghai, the Shanghai-level new engineering research reform practice project, and the vice-chairman unit of China New Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Alliance.

The school, formerly known as Jiangsu Fisheries School, was upgraded to Shanghai Fisheries College, the first undergraduate fisheries university in China in 1952, and renamed Shanghai Fisheries University in 1985 and Shanghai Ocean University in 2008.

Shanghai Maritime University is a multi-disciplinary university featuring shipping, logistics and ocean. The disciplines include engineering, management, economics, law, literature, science, art and so on. The Shanghai Municipal People's Government and the Ministry of Transport have established universities. The first batch of universities that have obtained the quality system certificate of seafarers' education and training in China and the quality assurance of ISO 900/KLOC-0 by the Norwegian Bureau of Classification were selected into the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education, the scholarship receiving institution of China government for overseas students in China and the first batch of demonstration universities in Shanghai to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education.

The school was established in July, 1909. It was the Department of Shipping Administration of Shanghai Higher Technical School of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications in the late Qing Dynasty that initiated the higher maritime education in China. It has experienced such periods as Advanced Merchant Shipping School of Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, Wusong Merchant Shipping School, Wusong Merchant Shipping College of Ministry of Communications, National Chongqing Merchant Shipping College, National Wusong Merchant Shipping College, and Shanghai Maritime College. From 65438 to 0959, the Ministry of Communications established Shanghai Maritime College, which was renamed Shanghai Maritime University with the approval of the Ministry of Education in 2004. In 2008, Shanghai Maritime University moved to Lingang New Town. The school was originally a university directly under the Ministry of Transport, and was placed under the management of Shanghai in 2000. In 2008, the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and the Ministry of Transport signed an agreement to establish Shanghai Maritime University.
