However, at present, there are not many colleges and universities offering the specialty of building environment and equipment engineering (including the direction of city gas) in China, and the annual graduates are far from meeting the needs of social development. Therefore, after full investigation and demonstration, and reported to the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education for approval, our school added the specialty of Building Environment and Equipment Engineering in 2002.

The major of thermal energy and power engineering has accumulated more than ten years of experience in running a school. At present, the graduates of both majors are in short supply. The specialty of building environment and equipment engineering is closely related to the specialty of oil and gas storage and transportation engineering and thermal power engineering in our school. After full demonstration, the specialty of building environment and equipment engineering is fully capable of being established by using existing teachers and experimental equipment.

There are very few people who have doctoral degrees in gas engineering in the specialty of building environment and equipment engineering, and they can't recruit high-level talents. On the basis of existing laboratories (multiphase flow laboratory, corrosion and anti-corrosion laboratory, gas diffusion laboratory, convection heat transfer laboratory, combustion laboratory, simulation calculation laboratory, covering an area of 1.200 square meters, with total equipment assets of more than 4 million yuan), experimental devices available for the specialty of building environment and equipment engineering are added, which provides a strong guarantee for enhancing students' practical ability.

The laboratory of building environment and equipment engineering is built on the basis of full consideration of equipment use, storage and transportation laboratory and thermal laboratory. At the end of 2004, he applied for the project of "Building Environment and Equipment Engineering Laboratory Construction" of the Ministry of Education and was approved. The technical staff of the unit serves as the practice teaching instructor of China Shiyou University (East China). Students can practice in the following production positions: Dayao jar station; Jinjialing LNG storage and distribution station; Coal-to-gas workshop of coking plant; Liquefier bottle filling station; Chengyang natural gas gate station; Pingdu liquefied gas storage and distribution station. At present, we have reached a preliminary intention with Qingdao Xinao Gas Co., Ltd. to establish "China Youshi University (East China) Practice Teaching Base". At that time, two more practice points can be added: Huangdao Tuanjie Road Gate Station and Jiaonan Offtake Station.

The setting of this major emphasizes the discipline, expansion and renewal of professional content. It is necessary to change professional education into general education, so that the new major can better adapt to China's economic development and technological progress in the setting and content of professional basic courses and professional courses. Since the construction of the new specialty, the specialty construction and teaching have been completed by the specialty of storage and transportation and thermal engineering. Although there are no magnificent memorabilia, the training of the first class of students has been successfully completed, and the employment rate of professional students is 100%.
Since May, 2006, it has been clearly put forward that "gas engineering and technology" is the leading direction of the specialty, and it has been clearly stated that the specialty construction and teaching work are the responsibility of the Department of Storage and Transportation Engineering. In order to strengthen the discipline construction and management of the specialty of building environment and equipment engineering, and considering the stability of the teaching staff, a deputy director is added in the storage and transportation department to be responsible for the discipline construction and laboratory construction of the specialty of building environment.
