The special police officers of the Public Security Bureau are auxiliary police officers, who are engaged in police auxiliary work under the command and supervision of the public security organs and their people's police.

At present, there is no national legislation on auxiliary police, but most local laws and regulations summarize the rights and responsibilities of auxiliary police as follows:

(a) public security patrol inspection, bayonet duty, receiving police, maintaining the order of large-scale public activities and emergencies (incidents), handing over existing criminal suspects, dispute mediation, public security publicity and education and other police activities;
