G3 12 and S228 Node Reconstruction Project

The renovation project of G3 12 and S228 nodes is located in Xiangcheng District. It is planned to add six ramps on the basis of the existing four ramps, and transform the original mixed semi-interchange into a full interchange.

The total length of ramp bridge route is 5775m, and the project started in June of 20 18, with a total construction period of 2 years.

"The original plan was officially opened to traffic in the middle of this year. Now, due to the rapid progress of the construction period, it was opened to traffic six months in advance! The reconstructed elevated * * * has four floors, with a maximum height of nearly 30 meters. Layers of elevated roads, the naked eye can see the existing ramps with lighter colors and the newly built ramps with darker colors. This time, a directional ramp leading to Huangdai High-tech Zone was added.

"It used to be only in the east, south and west directions, but now all directions are interconnected!" Qi introduced that after the viaduct is officially opened to traffic, vehicles passing through G3 12 and S228 can directly transfer from the interchange ramp without bypassing the ground.

"For example, before going to Changshu, you need to get off the viaduct and go to the viaduct after the traffic lights." Qi said that there were many such roads, so in the past, the ground was easy to cause congestion.

Now the viaduct is fully interconnected, which will greatly ease the ground traffic pressure and improve the traffic efficiency. At the same time, it also facilitates the transportation links between Xiangcheng District and the surrounding Changshu, Park and Wuxi.

The pier height of this project is 25.5m, the hoisting height of steel box girder is 30m, and the hoisting weight of segments is 290t. At the same time, the steel box girder needs to be spliced in stages in a limited space.

For this reason, a temporary service road was built, and part of the construction was carried out in the early morning when the traffic volume was low, thus ensuring the uninterrupted traffic of social vehicles.
