Foshan University, a national master's degree awarding unit, a key discipline construction unit of high-level universities in Guangdong Province, and a doctoral degree awarding project construction unit, was selected as the first batch of new engineering research and practice projects (excellent engineer education and training plan 2.0) and the national college students' innovation and entrepreneurship training plan of the Ministry of Education.

The second batch of innovation and entrepreneurship education demonstration schools in Guangdong Province and the post-doctoral innovation practice base in Guangdong Province. The school originated from Foshan Teachers College and Foshan Branch of South China Agricultural College founded by 1958. Later, Foshan Teachers College was renamed Foshan Teachers College. 1986 In February, Foshan University was established on the basis of Foshan Teachers College.

Foshan Branch of South China Agricultural College has also been renamed as Foshan Veterinary College and Foshan Agriculture and Animal Husbandry College. 1In March 1995, Foshan University and Foshan College of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry merged to form Foshan College of Science and Technology, which was upgraded to an undergraduate course.
