In March 1994, the Ministry of Personnel and the State Administration of Medicine promulgated the "Interim Provisions on the Qualification System for Licensed Pharmacists"; in July 1995 , the Ministry of Personnel and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine promulgated the "Interim Provisions on the Qualification System for Practicing Traditional Chinese Pharmacists", and since then, my country has begun to implement the qualification system for licensed pharmacists. In April 1999, the Ministry of Personnel and the State Food and Drug Administration issued the "Notice of the Ministry of Personnel and the State Food and Drug Administration on the revision and issuance of the "Interim Provisions on the Qualification System for Practicing Pharmacists" and the "Implementation Measures for the Qualification Examination for Practicing Pharmacists" (Personnel Issued [1999] No. 34), the original examination management methods were revised, clarifying that licensed pharmacists and traditional Chinese medicine pharmacists are collectively referred to as licensed pharmacists. The licensed pharmacist qualification examination shall implement a national unified syllabus, unified examination, unified registration, unified management, and classified practice. The examination work is jointly responsible by the Ministry of Personnel and the State Food and Drug Administration. The exam is held once a year, usually in mid-October. In principle, test centers are only set up in provincial capital cities.

Examination subject setting

The examination is divided into two majors: pharmacy and traditional Chinese medicine, each with four subjects: pharmaceutical management and regulations, pharmacy (traditional Chinese medicine) professional knowledge (1) , Pharmacy (Chinese Materia Medica) professional knowledge (2), comprehensive knowledge and skills (Pharmacy, Chinese Materia Medica).

Each subject is an objective question, and the answers are on the answer sheet.

The exam is divided into four and a half days, and the exam time for each subject is two and a half hours.

Exam score management

The exam is based on a two-year cycle, and those who take all subject exams must pass all subject exams within two consecutive exam years. Those who are exempted from some subjects must pass the examination subjects within one examination year.

Application Requirements

All citizens of the People's Republic of China and persons from other countries who are allowed to work in our country, who abide by laws and regulations and meet one of the following conditions are eligible Those who can participate in the Qualification Examination for Licensed Pharmacists:

(1) Obtain a technical secondary school degree in pharmacy, traditional Chinese medicine or related majors, and have been engaged in pharmacy or traditional Chinese medicine for at least 7 years.

(2) Obtain a college degree in pharmacy, traditional Chinese medicine or related majors, and have been engaged in pharmacy or traditional Chinese medicine professional work for at least 5 years.

(3) Obtain a bachelor's degree in pharmacy, traditional Chinese medicine or related majors, and have been engaged in pharmacy or traditional Chinese medicine professional work for at least 3 years.

(4) Obtain a second bachelor's degree in pharmacy, traditional Chinese medicine or related majors, graduate from a graduate program or obtain a master's degree, and have been engaged in pharmacy or traditional Chinese medicine for one year.

(5) Obtain a doctorate degree in pharmacy, traditional Chinese medicine or related majors.

Those who are appointed to senior professional and technical positions in accordance with relevant national regulations and meet one of the following conditions may be exempted from the examination of "Pharmacy (or Traditional Chinese Medicine) Professional Knowledge (I)" and "Pharmacy (or Traditional Chinese Medicine)" Professional Knowledge (2)" two subjects.

(1) Apprentices of traditional Chinese medicine, graduates from technical secondary schools majoring in pharmacy or traditional Chinese medicine, and have been engaged in pharmacy or traditional Chinese medicine for 20 consecutive years.

(2) Obtain a college degree or above in pharmacy, traditional Chinese medicine or related majors, and have been engaged in pharmacy or traditional Chinese medicine for 15 consecutive years.

According to the "Notice on Issues Concerning Approval for Hong Kong and Macao Residents to Participate in the Qualification Examination for Professional and Technical Personnel Unifiedly Organized by the Mainland" (Guorenbufa [2005] No. 9), all those who meet the corresponding requirements for the Qualification Examination for Practicing Pharmacists Residents of Hong Kong and Macao can register to take the exam in accordance with the procedures and requirements specified in the document.

Registration time and method

The registration time is March every year (subject to the time announced by the local personnel examination department).

Applicants must apply in person. After review and approval by their unit, they must bring relevant supporting materials to the local personnel examination management agency to complete the registration procedures. Personnel from the Party Central Committee, various departments of the State Council, the military and directly affiliated units shall register to take the examination based on the territorial principle.

Registration Management

Those who pass the Qualification Examination for Practicing Pharmacists shall be issued a certificate uniformly printed by the Ministry of Personnel and signed by the Ministry of Personnel and the National Food and Drug Administration by the personnel (job reform) department of each province, autonomous region, and municipality directly under the Central Government. The Administration uses the "Practice Pharmacist Qualification Certificate" printed by the People's Republic of China and the State. The certificate is valid nationwide.

Those who have obtained the "Licensing Pharmacist Qualification Certificate" must apply for registration with the provincial (regional, municipal) Food and Drug Administration in accordance with regulations. Only after obtaining the "Licensing Pharmacist Registration Certificate" can they practice as a licensed pharmacist. The registration period for practicing pharmacists is valid for 3 years. Three months before the expiration date, the license holder must go to the registration agency to go through the re-registration procedures with proof of participation in continuing education.
