Is China People's Bank a member of China Banking Association?

Of course not. The People's Bank of China is not a commercial bank or a profit-making institution.

According to the articles of association, all policy banks, large commercial banks, small and medium-sized commercial banks, asset management companies, China Securities Depository and Clearing Co., Ltd., China Postal Savings Bank, rural commercial banks, rural cooperative banks and rural credit cooperatives approved by the People's Bank of China with independent legal personality can apply to join the association. Banking associations of all provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government and cities under separate state planning) may become associate members after approving the articles of association.

China Banking Association has 22 member banks, including policy banks, wholly state-owned commercial banks, joint-stock commercial banks and city commercial banks. In the future, China Banking Association will also expand the scope of member banks and attract foreign banks to participate.
