What should we do to protect Buddhism?

First, legislation to protect the law.

"Hua Yan Jing" said: "Faith is the mother of virtue, and it nurtures good roots." People who study Buddhism must first start with faith and be pious, so as to grow all kinds of good roots, which is the premise. The so-called true faith, such as "On Cheng Wei's Knowledge", says: "Faith is based on virtue and ability, deeply endures pleasure, and has a pure heart; Do not believe in governance, be good. " We must be convinced that the Sanzang Classics are the truth and facts preached by the Buddha, and believe that we and others can prove the merits of the Buddha. Only by establishing and adhering to true faith can we advance on the road of supreme bodhi, adhere to true faith, oppose superstition, and cleanse words and deeds that do not conform to true faith. Secondly, we must find out what Buddhism is before we can work hard on protection. In the Lotus Sutra, the Buddha said: "Everything is impermanent, all laws have no self, nirvana is silent, and the third is dharma printing." The Mahayana of "Three Seals in One"-Real Seal is the center of the teachings recorded in Sanzang ancient books, and it is the criterion for Buddhist philosophy to verify good and evil. What conforms to the truth of three seals and one seal is Buddhism, and what does not conform to the truth of three seals and one seal is not Buddhism. People who study Buddhism can trust and pursue the teaching method that conforms to the seal, and everything that conforms to the seal should be fully protected.

Second, pure sangha, Long Shao Sambo.

The sangha explains "harmony and union", "harmony and monks" and "legalism". Broadly speaking, it also includes male and female laymen or "seven monks" at home. When the Buddha was alive, a series of corresponding commandments were formulated in order to make the monks really play the role of teachers. Master Taixu said, "I aim to organize the Sangha system and practice it in the Buddhist precepts of yoga." Indeed, the words and deeds of a Buddhist, especially a monk, are directly related to the rise and fall of Buddhism, so it is imperative to abide by the Buddhist system. For the prosperity of Buddhism, all people and things that do not conform to Buddhism should, in principle, distinguish right from wrong, break evil and show righteousness; In order to safeguard the interests of Buddhism, we must eliminate all kinds of evil forces in the cause of carrying forward Buddhism and benefiting students, so as to carry forward Buddhism, which is one of the main contents of protecting the law.

In recent years, it has been publicly reported that a small number of fake monks mixed with Buddhism have committed many evil deeds, such as murder, whoring, fornication, theft and so on. Although these people have been punished by law, the "sequelae" they have caused are endless and irritating, which not only desecrated sacred Buddhism and solemn temples, but also caused extremely bad influence in society. In recent years, "monks" who claim to be a temple in a certain mountain often appear in the streets and alleys of towns and villages, dressed as monks, holding "certificates" or "letters of introduction" and defrauding money from house to house under the pretext of building temples and sculpting Buddha statues. In view of the ugly behavior of these lawless people with ulterior motives, the relevant temples or Buddhist associations have issued statements in Buddhist publications to safeguard the reputation of Buddhism, but their situation has caused adverse effects in society. It must be pointed out here that all kinds of fake monks or nominal Buddhists are not qualified to be called disciples of Buddhism at all. They must not blindly look at the surface, but should clearly see the true and false, dare to expose people and things that damage the reputation of Buddhism, let the public clarify right and wrong, and restore the original dignity of Buddhism. This is an issue that must be discussed to protect the law. President Zhao Buchu pointed out in the report of "Thirty Years of Chinese Buddhist Association": "Buddhists are required to consciously abide by the Constitution and laws, draw a clear line between religious activities and illegal activities carried out by religion, and resolutely fight against bad people and evil things under the guise of Buddhism." In order to protect Buddhism for a long time, it will also be a long-term protection work to crack down on those bad people who use religion to carry out illegal activities under the guise of Buddhism.

It is imperative to clean up the heat in the Sangha system. At present, there are some intolerable phenomena in monasteries: fighting, smoking, drinking and eating meat, some becoming "professional monks", becoming monks for several years, catching up with Buddhist ceremonies (some publicly burning "scraps of paper" when the temple holds the ceremony of recommendation) and so on. When they earn enough money, they will return to the customs. Others will take back the money earned from Buddhism or temples to lay people. Master Zheng Guo, the late vice president of the Buddhist Association of China, said: "Those who study Buddhism have only a formal name, but their words and deeds are contrary to those of the Buddha, which is not only beneficial to themselves, but also harmful to Buddhism. For example, a very small number of Buddhists in society live in the name of learning Buddhism, which not only insults Buddhism, but also harms the national interests. For this nominal Buddhist, the best way is to ask them to quit the cult to reduce the dirt of Buddhism. He added: "The money of Sambo must be spent on Sambo. If it is brought to the laity, it will be the biggest overthrow of Jaken. Sin is boundless, and death in hell is terrible! Awesome! "The words of eminent monks and great virtues are worth learning from today's Buddhism, and it is also a wake-up call for all dharma inferior people.

Third, eliminate all kinds of evil forces and safeguard the interests of Sambo.

The first chapter of the Trial Measures for the Management of Buddhist Temples in Han Dynasty formulated by the Buddhist Association of China points out: "Temples are managed by monks themselves under the administrative leadership of the religious affairs department of the government." Article 19 of Chapter V says: "Production and autotrophic undertakings can absorb a necessary number of employees, or they can be accounted for separately, but personnel, finance and business must be managed by temples." Article 20 says: "Service outlets and activities should be brought into the scope of temple management on the principle of not affecting the purity and solemnity of temples." A series of temple management measures formulated by the Buddhist Association of China have safeguarded the interests of the three treasures in principle and won the support of the majority of Buddhist believers. However, the authorities in charge of some monasteries and their so-called "management committees" run counter to the relevant religious policies of the central authorities and the relevant management regulations formulated by the Chinese Buddhist Association, and create another set, resulting in various strange phenomena: First, some people in the relevant departments try their best to undertake the construction of monasteries in order to obtain benefits such as kickbacks, resulting in the final contractor cutting corners and damaging the interests of monasteries. Second, "selling dog meat by hanging sheep's head", some vegetarian restaurants contracted by individuals in the temple also supply tobacco and alcohol. Third, occupy the three treasures to make a fortune. For personal gain, regardless of the purity and solemnity of the overall layout, too many too dense photo booths have been set up. In order to make money, customers can be catered to at will. Fourth, get into the temple fair tickets and the economic contract of the service department. For all the above facts, all economic income depends on temples, and the income should belong to the permanent residents of temples. If employees are needed, they should also be recruited by the permanent population and paid the corresponding wages. This is in line with the implementation of relevant religious policies and is really managed by monks in the temple; However, the economic income of many temples is not paid for their permanent residence, and most of the money flows into the pockets of a few family members. Temples are the Dojo for monks to practice Buddhism and study, and also the place to practice the teachings of Buddha Tzu Chi. In order to make it truly a pure and solemn Sambo Dojo, it is necessary to correct all acts that violate Buddhist teachings and damage the solemnity of the temple, and it is strictly forbidden for the temple service department and vegetarian restaurant to sell tobacco, alcohol and all meat food.

To strictly abide by the Buddhist system of becoming a monk, we must first do a good job of becoming a monk. The younger generation of monks should receive formal training in Buddhist colleges as much as possible, and cultivate their families to carry on the Buddhist wisdom and the three treasures of Long Shao, so that they can undertake the Tathagata mission, spread Buddhism and benefit Buddhism. It is necessary to straighten out the relationship between learning Buddhism and practicing; The purpose of learning Buddhism should be clear and the priorities should be clear.

Fourth, don't desecrate Buddhist scriptures and Buddha statues.

People are easy to lose, and the Buddha stinks. If the Buddha is not born, everything in the world is like a long night. The three Buddhist scriptures are crossing the sea, sailing, precious torches, baby's wet nurse, and Miliang in a bad year. Reading classics can explain its meaning, which is widely publicized and promoted, and its merits are boundless; You can't understand its meaning, but if you have admiration, you will get infinite blessings. Looking at Buddhist classics is like seeing a Buddha, worshipping the Buddha statue and thinking hard. It seems that it is no different to see a Buddha. To worship and respect a Buddha is to look at countless buddhas, and to respect the present Buddha is to look at the past and future buddhas. I want to make the number of dust in the Tenth Third World the same as before, with my own cultivation and support. Before the boundless robbery, the Buddha died for half a week. After the extinction of the Buddha, only scriptures and images were handed down from generation to generation. When reading Buddhist scriptures, we should think of listening to the Buddha's voice, treating all Buddha statues as real Buddha's thoughts and respecting worship. If you can be so sincere, obey the law, break your troubles and prove Bodhi. However, secular ignorant people despise Buddhist scriptures, intentionally or unintentionally destroy and vilify Buddhist scriptures and Buddha statues, and it is also common for some ignorant people in Buddhism to profane them intentionally or unintentionally, which is really sad. For example, when Buddha and Bodhisattva are used as advertisements and trademarks of commodities, there are common tea trademarks, sachets and packaging boxes. These items are used up, and most of the outer packaging printed with Buddha and Bodhisattva is thrown away as garbage; Newspapers printed with images of buddhas and bodhisattvas are also used as waste paper to wrap things, or sold as waste products, which will inevitably cause serious blasphemy; Secondly, it is also common for some ignorant people to regard Buddhist scriptures and Buddha statues as "amulets", and to carry "mini-books" of Buddhist scriptures or small frames of Buddha statues and bodhisattvas in their pockets, or to wear prayer beads with Buddha statues. When these people go in and out of unclean places (such as toilets, bathhouses or public bathhouses), they still think they are pious and mistakenly think that doing so can ensure peace, but they don't know that this is undoubtedly blasphemy. It is inappropriate and blasphemous for some people to worship Buddhist altars or store scriptures in their bedrooms (such as couples' rooms). I hereby appeal that business people must not use the Buddha statue as a trademark, advertisement, packaging box, etc. For the benefit; At the same time, it is suggested that the majority of believers learn from Buddhism with correct knowledge, correct views and true beliefs. You don't have to be forced to worship the Buddha statue unconditionally. They should understand the truth that the heart is Buddha, and resolutely put an end to all acts of desecration of Buddhist scriptures and Buddha statues. Qi Xin should work together to protect the solemn and clean Buddhist scriptures and Buddha statues and make more contributions.

What should I do with the broken Buddhist scriptures and Buddha statues? Master Yin Guang said: "If the image can't be donated, it will be incinerated, but it can't be made into ordinary paper. A new incinerator must be set up." Strictly guard against death, don't let the ash fly over, take it out of the ash and put it in a dense cloth bag, then clean the sand or stone into the water and it will sink, so as not to float on both sides. When those who cross the sea go deep into the sea, or in the depths of rivers, you can, but you can't vote in a small ditch or a small river. "

For the prosperity of Buddhism, we should, with the dauntless spirit of heroes, sweep away all obstacles on the road of protecting the law, break evil and show righteousness, and show Buddhism. The purpose of upholding Buddhism is to continue the wisdom of Buddhism, spread Buddhism and benefit students. The quality of upholding Buddhism is directly related to the rise and fall of Buddhism. Disciples of Buddhism, let us in Qi Xin work together to protect Buddhism and pray that Buddhism will last for a long time and benefit all beings.
