Songyuan is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Jilin Province, located in the middle and west of Jilin Province, in the triangle of Harbin, Changchun and Daqing, at the southern end of Songnen Plain, by the beautiful Songhua River, bordering Changchun and Siping in the south, Baicheng and Tongliao in Inner Mongolia in the west and Daqing in Heilongjiang Province across the Songhua River in the north.

Ningjiang district, a municipal district of Songyuan City, is located in the middle and west of Jilin Province, at the northern end of Songyuan City, in the hinterland of Songnen Plain, with east longitude124 36'-125 05', north latitude 45 05'-45 32', east-west width of 38km and north-south length of 50km.
