Seamen are being recruited everywhere. Why are seafarers paid so much, but no one wants to go?

The salary of seafarers is higher than that of white-collar workers in first-tier cities, which is enviable, but it is strange that many young people are unwilling to be seafarers now. Why? You can't have your cake and eat it. Although seafarers' wages are high, some disadvantages of seafarers' work are also obvious. There are several reasons why many people don't want to be sailors now.

First, the apparent salary is high, but it may not be guaranteed. It is true that the wages offered by shipping companies to seafarers are relatively high, but it is hard to say how much can really fall into their pockets. Now if you want to be a sailor, you have to do research, and the research has to go through various intermediaries. The cost is relatively high, ranging from 10,000 yuan to 20,000 yuan and more than 50,000 yuan. These are all costs.

In addition, many people have no channels. If they want to be sailors, they must introduce the past through an intermediary. These intermediaries are all very dark. For example, the shipping company may offer seafarers a salary of 20,000 yuan, but the seafarers may finally get only 15000 or less, and the rest are eaten by the intermediary.

In addition, seafarers' wages are not high in all months of the year. Most seafarers take two to three months off a year, and you can't get paid during the break, so on average, the monthly salary may not be that high.

And at present, many seafarers introduced through intermediaries do not buy five insurances and one gold. At most, they will buy you some accident insurance when they work on the ship. Unless the ships you operate belong to central enterprises, such as CIMC and COSCO Shipping, there is no guarantee.

Second, psychological and physical stress. Ocean transportation is a very challenging thing for people, not only for their health, but also for their psychological endurance. Many ocean-going ships go to sea for several months. For a few months, you can only stay on the boat. You can't get off the boat for a walk until the boat is docked. But now because of the epidemic, many ships are strictly controlled, and sailors can't wander around, so they have to stay on board most of the time.

Maybe many people who haven't run a sailor think it's nothing, just like sleeping at home, but you can sleep for a week or two. If you stay in a fixed place for two or three months in a row, I estimate that many people will collapse.

Although the equipment of ocean-going ships is more and more advanced, there are more and more entertainment facilities. Usually, sailors also have many recreational activities. Some ships can also surf the internet. You can chat on WeChat, watch videos and so on.

However, all recreational activities are relatively few. Playing for a long time will naturally make you feel bored. Wandering in the vast sea for several months requires extremely high psychological endurance, which ordinary people can't cope with.

More importantly, at present, seafarers are mainly men, and there are no women. The so-called opposites attract, if there are women on board, they can chat with each other to kill time, but all the men have nothing to talk about at all, and they are playing their own games, which is even more boring. It is precisely because life at sea is so boring, lonely and monotonous that many young people simply can't stand living like this for months on end.

Of course, in addition to psychological stress, physical stress is also relatively great, because you may encounter all kinds of weather at sea, drift from a cold place to a very hot place, and experience various storms and so on. There is a high demand for physical endurance. However, the medical conditions on board are limited, and it is very troublesome if there is no medicine or medical staff on board to treat a certain disease.

Third, because of family reasons, seafarers may have to go to sea for several months, and some even go home once every eight or nine months. During this period, you can't contact your family for a lot of time, and you can't keep track of their dynamics at all. At this time, there are likely to be some contradictions.

For example, if a married person wanders at sea for a long time and is not at home, his wife may have some complications, which is also an important reason why many seafarers divorce after returning from the sea for several months.

For single men, they also want to talk about marriage, but there are men on board, and sometimes there is no internet. Can't talk all day. At this time, the so-called love is out of the question.

Many sailors had girlfriends at first, but they didn't come back for a few months after boarding the ship, and finally broke up. Therefore, many people are unwilling to be seafarers for a long time because of family considerations and emotional considerations.

Fourth, the cause of the epidemic. In the past two years, many people are unwilling to be seafarers, and the most direct reason is the influence of the epidemic. After the emergence of novel coronavirus in the past two years, there have been epidemics in many countries around the world. So far, many countries have not settled their accounts, and even some countries have a large number of new cases every day.

And these seafarers often go abroad and come into contact with all kinds of articles, so the probability of their contact with novel coronavirus is much higher than that at home. Although the seaman's salary has increased a lot in the past two years, he accidentally got novel coronavirus, and no amount of money can recover the loss. It is precisely because of the epidemic that many people simply quit their jobs as seafarers, and it is increasingly difficult for some shipping companies to recruit seafarers.

Based on various factors, although seafarers' salaries are very high at present, many ships cannot recruit seafarers. This is not because the salary is unattractive, but because seafarers may lose more than this salary. Therefore, on the whole, many people would rather give up tens of thousands of dollars' salary than become seafarers, and would rather stay at home with a salary of four or five thousand dollars a month.
