The Xuesong Middle School in Akto County is the only complete middle school for both Chinese and ethnic minorities in our county. The school was founded in 1972 and was originally named Akto County No. 2 Middle School. After 2004, it merged with Akto County Kirgiz Middle School and six township (town) middle schools in remote pastoral areas. In 2015, it was moved to its current location and renamed Akto County Cedar Middle School.
Cedar Middle School is a new campus fully funded by Jiangxi Province with an investment of 120 million yuan in Xinjiang aid funds. The school covers an area of ??124,000 square meters and the school building area is 69,600 square meters. The school follows the construction idea of ??"six halls and one center" and rationally plans teaching areas, living areas, and sports areas. There are currently 3,286 students on campus, including 1,135 high school students and 2,151 junior high school students; there are 71 teaching classes (23 classes in high schools and 48 classes in junior high schools). There are 1,620 students living on campus (1,014 in junior high school and 606 in high school). The school currently has 351 faculty members (202 from ethnic minorities and 149 from Han nationality), 346 full-time teachers, 82 with undergraduate degrees or above, and 7 with postgraduate degrees.
The school’s goal is to “take root in the Party’s education in the border areas, base on technological innovation and education improvement, and create a first-class green science and technology school in southern Xinjiang”. Adhere to the school-running philosophy of "promoting the cedar spirit, adhering to the three-foot podium, and striving to be a teacher with four qualities". The school combines the trinity of "green culture, red Jiangxi culture, and excellent Chinese traditional culture" to create a campus culture with the theme of "Cedar" spirit, and actively works towards building a "Kezhou Brand" school.
In February 2017, 10 teachers from the ninth batch of aid to Xinjiang came to our school. In September 2018, the first batch of 34 teachers from the "Jiangxi Aid to Xinjiang Ten Thousand Teachers Support Plan" came to Cedar Middle School In order to give greater play to the advantages of Jiangxi teachers, we promoted the principal and vice principal and five middle-level cadres to participate in school management.
