Minimum age 16 years old. The oldest male is 60 years old and the oldest female is 50 years old.

People's Republic of China (PRC) Labor Law: Article 15 prohibits employers from recruiting minors under the age of 16. The State Council Guofa [1978] 104 (still in use today) stipulates that those who are engaged in underground, high altitude, high temperature, particularly heavy manual labor or other jobs harmful to health, and those who work in alpine plateau areas all the year round, regardless of their jobs, are now 60 years old for men and 50 years old for women.

According to Article 1 of the Interim Measures of the State Council on Retirement and Resignation of Workers, enterprises, institutions, party and government organs and mass organizations owned by the whole people shall retire if they meet one of the following conditions: (1) Men who have reached the age of 60 and women who have reached the age of 50 have worked continuously for ten years. (two) engaged in underground, high altitude, high temperature, particularly heavy physical labor or other harmful work, men over 50 years of age, women over 45 years of age, continuous service for ten years. (3) The male has reached the age of 50, the female has reached the age of 45, and has worked continuously for ten years, and has been certified by the hospital and confirmed by the labor appraisal committee, and has completely lost the ability to work.
