Huaneng Yingkou Power Plant takes environmental protection first

Huaneng’s second phase project pays more attention to environmental protection and energy conservation. Among all power plants in Northeast China, it will be the first to achieve full seawater desalination. During the power plant production process, many production processes, including cooling, require water, with water consumption reaching more than 270 tons per hour. Freshwater resources in the Yingkou area are precious. In order not to compete with other companies for water resources, Huaneng's second phase project increased costs and used seawater desalination, which alleviated the local water shortage problem. In addition, Huaneng’s first phase project is also considering using seawater desalination equipment. Including equipment, Huaneng Yingkou Power Plant will need to invest 200 million yuan. As a large enterprise that relies on thermal power generation, it is inevitable to produce a large amount of sulfide during the combustion process, which is mixed with soot and emitted into the atmosphere. It is easy to produce pollution, and in severe cases, it forms acid rain, which has a huge destructive effect on the environment. To this end, Huaneng Yingkou Power Plant has adopted desulfurization equipment, which can process more than 99% of sulfur molecules. In the past, wisps of black smoke came out of the factory chimneys, but now white gas comes out, effectively reducing pollution. It is also reported that the second phase of the Huaneng project under construction will invest an additional RMB 200 million, using full desulfurization equipment. The filtered sulfide can be made into gypsum, realizing the rational use of resources.
