Can older farmers find jobs abroad?
Some domestic companies don't pay much attention to programmers. Although technology can be provided, they are rarely given higher positions. In the minds of these companies, important talents may be demand control personnel and product sales personnel. Anyway, programmers are catching a lot now, and they are not worried about not recruiting people. Even in some circles, programmers will be nicknamed "CV Engineer", thinking that the programmer's job is to simply copy and paste every day. So China won't be willing to recruit older programmers. After all, anyone can "resume". Isn't the young brain more flexible?
However, in some foreign companies, programmers are not excluded by age, but have more possibilities for career promotion. Like domestic programmers, foreign programmers should constantly learn new technologies and accumulate knowledge. However, compared with domestic programmers, their mentality may be better and the content they have learned will be deeper. With the processing of various projects, the personal ability of foreign programmers will become higher and higher. Even at the age of 40, domestic programmers should "retire" and their combat effectiveness will not be weakened. Although getting older will have a certain impact on the health of programmers, programmers will become more stable and have fewer problems after code output. From this perspective, the work efficiency will be higher. And foreign companies just see this, so they also welcome older farmers, and they can also be promoted to higher positions.
However, in China, some Internet companies don't think so. They like to take age as an example. They think that programmers should retire at the age of 40 and give the opportunity to those programmers who have just graduated. Perhaps these companies think that young people are more comfortable working overtime and don't have to spend time with their families. Moreover, compared with the old employees, it will cost less to hire young programmers, and the company can save more money. Many domestic companies are reluctant to recruit older farmers because of this wishful thinking.
Of course, the different working environment can also explain why foreign companies are willing to accept older farmers, while domestic companies are reluctant to recruit older farmers. The competition in the Internet industry is very fierce, and overtime is a common occurrence. However, working overtime abroad requires a high salary, and like some companies in Britain, overtime needs to be applied in advance, indicating how long overtime will be and what work will be completed. So this working environment makes programmers more efficient, instead of working for eight hours, and the result is that four hours is "fishing in troubled waters."
But working overtime in China does not necessarily pay you. You must stay and work overtime if the specified tasks are not completed. Although older programmers are efficient, finish their work within the specified time and get off work on time, they may feel that they are "old hands" in the eyes of leaders, and they don't work hard at all. They leave work when they get off work, without the "dedication" spirit of those young employees. Therefore, there will be "intimate" conversations with leaders, so that employees can be laid off "actively" and the company will recruit new people.
From the perspective of enterprise managers, recruiting young programmers to replace old employees can not only save money, but also inject new vitality into the company's blood, which is very beneficial to the company's sustainable development. However, compared with young programmers, older code farmers have accumulated experience through various "projects" and have value that young employees do not have. If a company regards the elderly farmers as a burden, the growth space of the company will be very limited. Therefore, regardless of the age of the farmer, anything valuable is welcome!
