Hankou University is located in Jiangcheng - Wuhan City, Hubei Province. It is a full-time general undergraduate higher education institution that has been evaluated and approved by the Ministry of Education.

Hankou College was founded in 2000 and was originally called the Hankou Branch of Central China Normal University. It is one of the first four independent colleges in the country. In 2011, upon application by the Hubei Provincial People's Government and approval by the Ministry of Education, it was renamed Hankou College, becoming one of the first institutions in the country to convert from an independent college to a general undergraduate university.
