The written examination of public subjects is divided into two subjects: vocational aptitude test and comprehensive application ability. Examination categories are divided into four categories: comprehensive management (A), social science expertise (B), natural science expertise (C) and medical care (E). Comprehensive application ability (Class E) is divided into six categories: clinical posts of traditional Chinese medicine, clinical posts of western medicine, pharmaceutical posts, nursing posts, medical technical posts and public health management posts. Candidates' written examinations are conducted continuously in two subjects without interruption.

According to the different requirements of the test questions, candidates who take the comprehensive application ability (Class C) test may need to use a ruler (it should be an ordinary ruler without calculation, storage and communication functions).
