Accelerating the transformation of electric vehicles, Renault plans to lay off 2,000 employees in France

A few days ago, according to foreign media reports, Renault Group said it would cut up to 2,000 engineering and support positions in France. The company will transition to electric vehicles and recruit new employees for different positions.

Renault said it was negotiating with unions on its latest layoffs plan. As part of a comprehensive restructuring, the group has previously announced the layoffs of approximately 4,600 employees in France. The company said there will be a net creation of 500 new jobs overall, after 2,500 new hires in other functions. Renault said it plans to produce nine new models in France.

According to Renault’s plan, Renault ElectriCity will work with its e-powertrain MegaFactory in Normandy to create a compact, efficient and high-tech power ecosystem in northern France.
