Recently, Jinhua's 2023 government work report was released, which clearly stated:

Promote the integration of production and education, accelerate the construction of four ten thousand technician colleges, such as Jinhua Technician College and Yongkang Hardware Technician College, and deepen the reform of integrated personnel training in secondary and higher vocational colleges and the overall planning of secondary vocational education.

Support Zhejiang Normal University to strive for "double first-class" and Jinhua Vocational and Technical College to "upgrade", support the high-quality development of universities such as Yiwu Vocational and Technical College of Industry and Commerce, and accelerate the construction of ten landmark projects such as Jinhua Vocational and Technical College and Hengdian Film Academy.

Jinhua Vocational and Technical College was founded in 1994 and approved by the Ministry of Education 1998. It is one of the first batch of 28 higher vocational colleges approved by the Ministry of Education.

It integrates the traditions and resources of six technical secondary schools, including Jinhua Normal School, Yiwu Normal School, Jinhua Health School, Jinhua Agricultural School, Jinhua Supply and Marketing School and Zhejiang Agricultural Machinery School. The school can be traced back to Jinhua Government Primary Normal School founded by 1907, with a history of more than 100 years.
