This is another measure taken by Ali to improve organizational efficiency after canceling weekly reports and discouraging inefficient overtime/meetings.

Ali is divided into two career sequences, namely "P" and "M", where "P" stands for career sequence, and most employees such as programmers and product managers are in this sequence. "M" is a management sequence, which requires the experience and ability of a management team.

The "P" sequence was first proposed by Ali B2B service, and has been implemented for 10 years. From P5 (university graduates) to P 12 (business department presidents), Ali employees will match their ranks when they join the company, corresponding to the corresponding salary, stock and promotion mechanism. Among them, P 10 or above is the vice president level, which is called "high P" by Ali employees.

A number of Ali employees told 36Kr that canceling the "P" sequence of internal display was related to encouraging equal internal communication.

An employee of Ali told 36Kr that in internal inter-departmental collaboration, if you see that the other party is "high P", you will have scruples when communicating, or even "bypass if you can". Now, after hiding his rank, he will be more daring to communicate.

Another employee affirmed the measures to hide the level. "It can really eliminate some communication differences, and the voice supported by the intranet is also the majority." However, he also expressed his concern about 36Kr: it would be embarrassing if he met a strange colleague at the meeting and found it was P 10 (vice president).

36Kr asked Ali for official verification about the hidden level, and Ali confirmed this fact, but did not give more reply.

However, can canceling the P-sequence display really encourage communication?
