Job Recruitment Website - Job information - My starting line
My starting line
There are many starting lines in life. Kindergarten and primary school are the starting lines for education. The first job is undoubtedly the starting line for work resume. "You can't lose at the starting line" is a bad saying, but since everyone says it, it must have meaning.
Regarding the starting line issue, my personal view is that the starting line is not a starting point or a horizontal line, but a stage. The starting point is important, but how you run after starting is even more important. Life is not a 100-meter sprint. Life is actually a marathon. It doesn't matter if you start slowly, or if you fall behind in the first half, it doesn't matter. As long as you accumulate enough strength, you will eventually be able to reach your destination ahead.
My starting point at work was not ideal, but it had a great impact on me.
When I graduated in 2003, my relatives introduced me to a clerkship in a real estate company in Zhangmutou. Clerk work is not consistent with the financial accounting major I studied, but I thought of what my previous teacher taught me: "When you don't have any experience, someone is willing to provide you with opportunities to grow. No matter what you do, you need to do it well. In this way Opportunities will come up in the future. "I decided to take the job. The "Dihao Garden" developed by this company was the largest real estate in Zhangmutou at the time and had a certain reputation. This was also an important reason that attracted me to join.
The department I work in is the administrative department. There are only two people, one is the director of the administrative department, and the other is me, the administrative clerk. The Administration Department is responsible for personnel, recruitment, logistics, and advertising planning and management. My job consisted of sending and receiving faxes (the Internet was not widely available at that time), answering phone calls, printing manuscripts, etc.
After understanding the work content, I felt that the job was too simple and I should be able to do it easily. I didn’t feel it was challenging. But soon, reality hit me.
My leader, Director Chen, is a thirty-five-year-old man. He is handsome but also very serious. On the first day of work, Director Chen taught me how to use office equipment such as copy machines and fax machines (which I had never been exposed to at school), how to do attendance accounting, and let me practice typing on the computer. Later, Director Chen took me around other departments and introduced my colleagues to me, and the whole morning passed.
When I went to work in the afternoon, Director Chen took a few pages of project promotion materials and asked me to print them for him. At that time, I could type at a speed of 80 to 100 words per minute. I quickly completed the printing and handed it over to Director Chen. I thought I had completed the task perfectly.
Who knew that after a while, Director Chen came to me with a dark face.
Almost half of the words in the printed manuscript were wrong. The reason was that I didn’t recognize many of the words written by Director Chen and entered them by guessing. There were also careless omissions, typos and punctuation marks, too wide line spacing, too large fonts, unsightly typesetting, etc. Director Chen pointed out the problems one by one with a serious look.
Finally, Director Chen told me seriously that the tasks assigned by the leader must be completed carefully without any mistakes. If the information printed by the clerk needs to be checked by the leader, then the administrative clerk must do it. Well?
I made so many mistakes and was severely criticized by the leader on my first day at work. I was stunned.
I spent the whole afternoon that day, revising and sorting it out many times before finally meeting Director Chen’s requirements. In the next few days, I still made mistakes one after another: I was asked to send information to Manager Yang of the Property Department, but I gave it to Deputy Manager Yang of the Property Department; I was asked to go to an advertising company to get advertising film, but I couldn't find their office and was left empty-handed. Return; The copier broke down and I didn’t know how to repair it, which delayed the copying work...
Seeing my work performance like this, Director Chen became very angry and scolded me very much. Embarrassing. At that time, I really thought there was a crack in the ground that I could crawl into.
I couldn’t do such a simple job well, and I was very angry with myself. I told myself in my heart that I must not make any more mistakes, otherwise it would be too embarrassing to be fired if I fail to survive the three-month probationary period.
In the following days, I would stay in the office for two or three hours after get off work every night, practicing typing to improve my speed and accuracy.
Compare the printed copy and read Director Chen’s handwriting carefully again and again. Two months later, I was able to understand Director Chen's "Master's Talisman". When I handed the printed documents to Director Chen, he could no longer find many faults.
Once the boss needed to print out a document urgently, and the secretary was away on vacation, so the boss asked me to print it for him. Later, the boss's secretary told me that because this task was completed well, quickly, without errors, and the layout was clear, the boss had a good impression of me.
At that time, there were two old accountants in the finance department. They had a lot of work and were not proficient in computers. When I have time, I will take the initiative to help them copy materials. I also help them design EXCEL tables to replace manual salary calculations. The financial director was from Chaoshan. Seeing my diligence, he slowly began to teach me some financial skills. When I was helping them copy the statements, I secretly made an extra set and studied them privately to understand what the financial statements looked like in actual work.
A year later, the mortgage department was short of manpower, and my boss ordered the company to transfer me to the mortgage department to handle homeowners’ mortgage loans, declaration of deed taxes, liaison with banks for loans, and compilation of owner certificate documents. This gave me a strong understanding of the real estate business. Have an in-depth understanding of materials and processes.
Later, my boss established a company in Guangzhou and transferred me to be an accountant and be responsible for accounting. Only then did I finally have the opportunity to do professional work.
I have deep feelings about this first job. I found that any simple position can help me grow:
It is Director Chen’s Continuous hammering allowed me to slowly improve my work efficiency and develop a cautious work attitude;
It is precisely because I am competent at clerical work that when I have the opportunity to contact the boss, I can retain my reputation with good work results. Give the boss a good impression;
It was my boss who had a good impression of me that gave me the opportunity to work in the mortgage department; it was working in the mortgage department that I learned comprehensive knowledge about the real estate business.
All of this seems to be laying the foundation for my future financial work.
In the blink of an eye, I have been working for fifteen years and became an old accountant.
