However, with the change of policy and pickup environment, these products are not strong in competition with mainstream products such as Great Wall Gun and Domain Tiger 9. Foton Motor did not sit still, and a pickup truck product with more passengers came into being. It's General Fukuda.

First of all, this name is very recognizable. Since the Great Wall Cannon, major manufacturers have attached great importance to the naming of products. Is General Fukuda easier to remember quickly than his name? I think the answer is yes. Because we have had a more detailed real shooting experience before, this time we will introduce the static part to you with the differentiated Mulan version of General. (Because of the arrangement of vehicles, the static and dynamic parts use different appearance colors, but the configuration of the two vehicles is the same. Please understand. )

The appearance style is very beautiful.

When we first saw General Fukuda, the straight and generous front design has a strong American pickup style, which will give you a feeling of deja vu. The front of the car looks heavy, and through the use of more horizontal lines, this rough and tough appearance is outlined. In addition, whether it is the front grille, headlight group or front enclosure, the size is very large, which makes it more recognizable. On the other hand, the pink painting on Mulan's version weakens its tough side, which is not as aggressive as the ordinary version.

In terms of body size, standard container and long container models will be provided, with the length, width and height of 5340× 1980× 1905mm and the wheelbase of 3110 mm respectively. The cargo hold size is 1520× 1580×440mm, which has certain advantages compared with competing models at the same level.

The whole rear of the truck is still a relatively square shape common to pickup trucks. The rear bumper is decorated with chrome. In addition, the vent on the right below is real, and the one on the left is decorative. In terms of interior, if you are familiar with the Jade Rabbit series before, you will not be unfamiliar with the general's interior, and the overall central control shape is basically the same. On the Mulan version, a lot of pink decorations are added to the whole interior, and the style is consistent from the inside out. Whether this color can be accepted by male friends is still a question mark. Anyway, I am not too "cold" about this color myself. It is more suitable to drive for a few days occasionally.

Pink seats are too eye-catching

In terms of seats, according to the manufacturer's introduction, General Fukuda's main driver's seat is all six-way electric adjustment, and a lot of pink leather has been added to this Mulan version, which looks very eye-catching. The front and rear seats are comfortable, but the folding form of the rear seats is slightly conventional.

Three kinds of power/two kinds of gearboxes

At present, Foton GM has three power options, namely, two 2.0T gasoline and diesel engines of Ojai Power and 2.5T diesel engine of Isuzu. These two engines are also widely used in Terralord, Kaicheng F70 and other products. The test drive model is a gasoline-powered model equipped with Aojiang 2.0T, with a maximum power of 238 HP and a peak torque of 360 Nm. The transmission system is matched with 8AT gearbox, and the diesel 8AT model will not be launched until next year.

This test drive, we only had a very short experience on the test track of Foton Motor Foshan Factory, and we will present you with a richer test drive experience in future tests. As a pickup truck with passenger car style, this gasoline version of the car is relatively light to drive as a whole. Abundant power reserve and good low-torque performance make it easy to start and accelerate at medium and low speeds. I feel that I don't step on the gas pedal much, and the speed is already fast.

In the process of overall speed-up, the shift action of 8AT gearbox from ZF is relatively gentle, and the overall participation is not high. In addition, it is more willing to move upwards. Because we are in the test site, we basically go out with one foot on the accelerator, and we can't experience its performance when we follow the car at low speed. Many models equipped with 8AT gearbox are hesitant to follow the car at low speed, which we will focus on later.

The suspension of the rear leaf spring is stiff in filtering the speed bump, especially for the passengers sitting in the back row. However, in the face of some small bumps or big bumps, non-loaded body, wide tires and long-stroke suspension are relatively easy to resolve such bumps, and unnecessary vibration will not be transmitted to the car.

Summary:

General Fukuda's originality in modeling is not high, and the overall configuration has no special highlights compared with the current mainstream products such as Great Wall Gun or Domain Tiger 9. As a latecomer, it didn't let us shine on the overall strength, and there is still room for improvement in details. However, the light pleasure of overall driving still left us a good impression. In fact, the time from spy photos exposure to general Fukuda's real car appearance is very short. Prior to this, it also made its debut at the Beijing Auto Show and announced the pre-sale price, including the leisure version and the sports version.
