Chengdu University of Technology is a public full-time undergraduate school headed by the Sichuan Provincial People's Government, which is jointly established by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education and the Sichuan Provincial Economic and Information Technology Commission.

It was selected as an application-oriented undergraduate construction college in the 13th Five-Year Plan for the Integration of Industry and Education, the first batch of outstanding engineer education and training programs in Sichuan Province, the first batch of pilot units for comprehensive education reform in Sichuan Province, and the pilot unit for the overall transformation, development and reform of undergraduate colleges in Sichuan Province.

As of May 2022, Chengdu University of Technology has 14 secondary colleges (departments) and 39 undergraduate majors, covering management, science, economy, art, literature and other disciplines.
